GWM announces price/models for South Africa Market

China's biggest privately-owned carmaker GWM has announced their line-up and pricing for the South African market.
GWM will enter the local motoring scene in March with four well-priced vehicles.
The entry-level model is a single cab bakkie with a 2.2-litre engine, which will be priced from R95 000.
Next in line is a more luxurious version which features luxury items and trim, such as aircon, alloy rims, power steering, leather interior etc, and it will cost R105 000.
The GWM 2.2i Double cab will be available at a low R135 000 and the Multi-wagon model will cost R155 000. Both these derivatives will only be available in a luxury specification.
GWM says all their vehicles fully comply with the stringent homologation requirements as demanded by the SABS.
Henri Meistre, managing director of GWM SA, highlights the importance of a national dealer network and availability of parts: "At our launch in March, our initial dealer network will comprise in excess of 20 reputable dealers in all the major cities and towns in SA.
"This will be expanded to over 30 dealers by the end of 2007. We have also set up the needed infrastructure to ensure that all the dealers will have an uninterrupted supply of parts, from our parts distribution centre in Durban, to ensure efficient service and repairs."
