They are seriously going to call that the M3? I smell another lawsuit going to a chinese automaker... That isn't an M3

I agree its impossible to call a car an m3..maybe its the code (b4 launch) name...

but the very ironic thing is BRILLIANCE CHINA is joint ventured with BMW china!!!!!!!!!!! so they know exactly what an M3 is! So im 100% sure this is not going to be called an m3...

Looks good but the front grille could be alittle different. Is this just gonna have the same 4 cylinder engines as other Zhonghua's or some larger more sporty engines?? I can't wait to see real pictures of it.

Sexy? Not for me then, I think the design is way too high. Although - I have to admit - it has a quite unique design. Props therefore, but Zhonghua should change the grille before they get it overseas.

i understand why ferrari's are usually red, lambourghini yellow but why is all the chinese sports car/ concepts alway painted red? like the Chery M14, the Geely CD, and the Changan sports concept? is china that nationalistic where they must paint their sports car the color of the flag?

What vehicles do the M1 and M2 compete with?
I apologize if it is any trouble, but just looking at specs does not really help me understand the true size of these vehicles.
Although they look nice, they will all need more powerful powerplants, maby a 3.5 liter engine, or a 4.0.

I think all Chinese sports cars and concepts are always painted red, because red easily spotted from a distance, due to its wide wave length, or just to mimic the Ferrari paint job, after all this is a business, not kissing up to the state.
Besides, when Chinese people are nationalistic, it’s towards the five thousand years of culture, and the land there forefathers lived and died on, rather than the present communist party.

and no one should do 200km/h on a Datsun too !

I've been in a Zhounga Granduer as a passenger , and the drvier reached 180km/h on a Highway here , and I am proud to say its more stable than most sedans I've ever into that includes ( Elantras / Camrys / Corollas / Lancers and a 2002 316i )

The engine noise are silenced and the car is very comfortable at that speed , and its not even a sports car , so just Imagine what the m3 willbe like .

The only take I have on the Granduer is the cheap interior and low accelleration but thats propably cuz its using an old Japanese motor , which tends to be always low on accelleration and low on hp. ( Mitsubishi 2.4G ) .

and oh , Real sports cars with Real Sports engine don't belong to Asia , sorry
Even if the m3 got it right , it still will never be on par with real Sports car , the M3 might give the Coupes / ur Datsun and Mazdas a run for their money . but it will never be a Real Exotic Sports car .

Leave sports car for the Italian and American , they know how to make these , just stick to low priced cars or low priced luxury cars ,Japan rocks at that .
My dads corolla is from 1994 and its still as strong today .

yet my friends Coupe , ( Hyundai ) bought in 2005 .... lets say it likes the Service centers more than it likes the road

Cryptonix, why should anyone not do 200km/h in a datsun when they are well engineered to be driven like that such as in the 240z (see picture). u also say that the chinese made car zhouhga more stable than camry/corolla/316i, which i find hard to believe because i have driven these cars and they were very decent, unless the japanese cars had cheaper suspension components for the chinese market:(

u say the Chinese M£ giving the Japanese coupes a run for the money, tough luck to the chinese going against a 350z or mazda rx8. and also american do not make decent sports car as u suggest, i have driven a corvette and it was very bad handling and build quality.

also i dont drive a datsun as such, i drive a skyline gtr by nissan (formerly datsun)

I am talking about real Fuel eaters ,,, real sports car

Lambo . Ferrari . Bugatti , Viper . Porsches . Aston Martin DB9 . Mclaren

cars that are almost priceless

the rest of the stuff you mentioned are considered AFFORDABLE for the likes of these on top , and also .... SLOW .

What I am saying is that the Chinese Brilliance M3 if done correctly , will be amongst the Hyundai Coupe / Nissan 350z / Toyota Supra and such and will be a very good alternative for these . you have no experince with a zhongua , so you don't know what I'm talking about .

I know you're car is a Nissan , and I honestly adore your care , for me its even better than the 350z and the RXs ... cuz it has this Muscle look to it like American sports cars .

Corvette is another example of an AFFORDABLE sports car , not for me :D i mean in general for SPORTS CAR BUYERS .

Aah, cofusion sorted:thumb: they are SUPERCARS, not sports cars.

With my skyline i have given porsche, ferrari driver really hard time as they lost out. When i stopped at the petrol station to fill up, they came up to me and said how shocked they were at my Skylines performance. :)

but as a posing value, my skyline is no match to the super cars, on the track its a different matter, if a skyline loses against a supercar is because of the fault of the skyline driver, not the cars itself

Brilliance Zhonghua are actually one of the best engineered brands in China with their own styling design.

BTW BMW yes BMW are Brilliances partner in China & have assisted them with most of Brilliances cars from what I've read here.

So the M3 would definitely be capable of 200 km/h.

well brilliance didnt get a good reception here in uk

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/carreviews/firstdrives/204329/brilliance_bs6.html

why buy BTW over a 2nd hand BMW with a silky smooth 6 cylinder engine (world class)

M3 may be capable of 200km/h, but how about the wear and tear and repair bills. My current skyline does 170mph (gps tested ) and i had it since 2002 and been very reliable.

It is not a shame to be a newer but it is a shame that some old guys fear of his challenge.

This Brilliance (ZhongHua) (do not spell it wrong) new sports car might not be a perfect car with best handling, speed or workmanship, however, it is definitely a big step forward of Automobile Industry in China. One day, Chinese cars will be among the best cars list. This day will come, very soon.

One more thing, if someone likes Japanese cars too much, ask your Japanese car makers to F**k off producing their parts in China. I really want to see how much a Japanese cars will cost and if anyone in the world will buy them? Haaaa haha , sorry, I really have to laugh at the short sighted ambitiously.

Cheers, Chinese Automobile Makers!

When a baby take his first steps, do you laugh and say he can't run?

Once the baby grows up, he may just take your lunch and eat it too.

This is a very big and bright baby by the way.

The Japanese cars only got good in the last 18 years, and NOT all of them.

The Koreans, well, not there yet but arguably only in the last 3 years, and again, NOT all of them.

The Chinese cars is already at the early 90's level of other Asian makers, and catching up fast. Get ready to eat crow.

Why is it hard to believe this car can do more than 200 km/hr? With a turbo engine of high torque and good hp, a light and aerodynamic body, proper gearing (hopefully a slick manual 6 spd), I can see it do 200+ km/hr easy. (That's kilometers, not miles.)

The past few auto magazines I have received in the mail have all had snap-shots of the Brilliance BC3; are there any plans to bring this vehicle to the US? For the money I would expect a car like this to be priced at, I am more in favor of the BC3's styling over the likes of its Japanese, Korean and US rivals.

As of yet there are no plans to bring Brilliance vehicles to NA that I know of. Personally I'm a fan of M3, I think it looks kick ass.

There actually are plans for Brillance to enter the US market. Peter M. DeLorenzo, who runs an auto market watcher website, seems to think they are the most likely the first Chinese company to do so:

tttp://ww.autoextremist.com/page6.shtml#table (this link will expire in a week and be replaced by next week's comments-substitute http for tttp, since there seems to be a silly rule about newbies not posting direct links here)

Publisher's Note: I had the pleasure of attending (and speaking at) the Bel Air Partners Elite Dealer Summit in New York last week, a very interesting gathering of top dealers and dealer groups from all over the country. The focus of the meeting was the emerging Chinese automobile industry and the eventual reality of Chinese vehicles being imported here. There were a series of speakers on Thursday and Friday, but by far the most interesting sequence occurred when Malcolm Bricklin did a presentation, followed shortly by a representative from Brilliance China Automotive. Always entertaining and filled with quips and funny lines, Bricklin got up and promised he would be back - this time importing Chinese hybrid vehicles, after first settling his dispute with Chery (Daimler AG waltzed-in and took Chery out from under him, according to Bricklin). All of the usual promises and hype - a Bricklin specialty - were made in vintage loosey-goosey style, and Malcolm even waved around poster boards with artist's rendering of his proposed "world-beater" Chinese car. Of course, he alluded to the fact that he had all of the problems associated with this advanced technology solved and that his partners had figured out the whole battery "thing" and then he was gone, leaving everybody wondering if there was anything there "there" - per usual. But Bricklin's misfortune was that after a break the representative from Brilliance China Automotive got up and proceeded to deliver the most buttoned-up, detailed and seamless presentation you can imagine, delineating every detail from vehicle importation sites, sales regions, product development and testing all the way to product photos and even initial pricing. Everyone in the room couldn't help but be impressed, and everyone in attendance that day knew they were witnessing the beginnings of the first serious Chinese threat to the status quo in the U.S. market. What I also took away from that meeting was that Brilliance China Automotive effectively put an end to Malcolm Bricklin's career. The juxtaposition between the two presenters was painfully striking, with Bricklin and all of his smoke and mirrors bluster going up against a thoroughly detailed presentation perfectly suited to the new century and the global scope of the automobile business. - PMD

Japanese mass produce car parts in china because of cheap labour and land values, and makes economic sense in terms of entering the Chinese market.

Cheers, Chinese Automobile Makers!

what is there to cheer about, most chinese cars are inferior Japanese knockoffs, over a decade old in terms of design and technical issues.

Nice I love hearing good news from brilliance. I wish the best for brilliance, I know they will do well. They always remember to do their own homeworks although getting help from the German side. Brillance hardly (or never) copy any design from other makes. If brilliance passes all the tests, it can improve the image of Chinese cars in general, hope something like other Chinese will not happen to brilliance. Seriously I see no hope no Chery or Geely, they copy too much and the quality is quite low as well. GO GO GO BRILLIANCE.

SHENYANG, China — Brilliance Automotive, one of China's second-tier players and an affiliate of BMW, has launched its first self-developed sport coupe in the local market.

The sporty two-door is priced from just under $15,000, ranging up to $21,400 for well-equipped versions.

Badged as the BC3, the car was displayed earlier this year at the 2007 Geneva Auto Show. The coupe is fitted with a 170-horsepower turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder that can be mated to either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission. Brilliance claims 0-60-mph acceleration in less than 9.7 seconds, with a top speed of 130 mph.

Brilliance executives have said they plan to begin selling the BC3 in Europe in 2008 and have suggested the two-door eventually may be part of the company's U.S. product portfolio.

Brilliance also is talking about adding a crossover vehicle to its lineup, which currently includes large and midsize sedans.

In my honest opinion, the first design of this car was better. As for it looking as good as a Hyundai Coupe or a Toyota celica....i would say...close to...but not there yet...But i see this coupe is gonna give those two a run for their money....well...as for the internal... i still think its ugly....but...much better than most china cars.

Anyone out there know of any owner reviews of this car after a few months of owning it? It came out in September?

Anyone have any insight on who may have helped them with with this new 6 speed transmission? Sounds like this car could (or maybe not ;-)) be lots of fun with this new update? - Seems kinda odd, that they didn't wait to do it as a model year improvement?

OK, I FINALLY had a chance to see this car in person.........WHAT A CAR. Pictures don't do it justice - it is just BEAUTIFUL. Nice aggressive stance, sporty but very classy interior, TONS of room with the back seats folded down and the best part.........ONLY 120,000rmb!! Yes, that is with the normal 1.8 engine, but STILL quite a deal. I'm not a real speed demon - I just need enough power to cruise on the highway comfortably so the regular 1.8 would do me just fine. It's also very nicely equipped even with the basic model - no "stripped down" car here AT ALL. IMO, the M3 is JUST as beautiful (maybe even more) than the Hyundai coupe, and you can save 40-50,000rmb as well. Geely's China Dragon? Let's not even go there. The Chery M14? Nice car, but WHEN is it going to get here?????? SO........................for MY money, the M3 is the best deal going for a sports car in China right now. Yes, you can get faster cars (a LOT faster), but A LOT more expensive and none are more attractive. I'll save my money (both in purchase and potential speeding tickets) and buy the M3!!!

Basic shape is okay, could use a front and rear re-style. Based on Brilliance's abysmal crash results the coupe must be more of a rolling "kill-me" sign than anything else. The pricing on Brilliance cars in the UK is on par with that of a Camry, so what is the compelling reason to buy a Brilliance over a Scion Tc or even a Hyundai Tiburon? It seems that Brilliance cars really compete with Proton / Perodua, just at a higher price w/less saftey. Also I know Mitsubishi has been the Japanese equivalent to Fiat in terms of licensing designs (and selling drivelines), but they are the worst of the Japanese makes, they are the reason that so many chryslers are bad as well.

I am very eager to see what this car is actually like.
The engine is in fact the least likely piece to fault.
More suspect are suspension geometry, center of gravity and front-rear balance.

The rest is all in the quality of materials used. If they used good quality in the build or engine internals I can't wait to turn up the boost a bit. :)

Brilliance 1.8T GT Coupe

There are several companies in China that boast of their ’sports models’ in their line ups, however, these are mostly sports looking but dont really have the sports credibility especially when they are sporting Mitsubishi engines that were obsolete in the mid 90’s. Then the Brilliance Coupe came along and pretty much showed the Chinese car industry, and the world, that were was at least one company in China trying to take the coupe segment seriously, that company is Brilliance.

Brilliance developed their own 1.8T engine to fit into the Coupe, a 1.8 Turbo 4 cylinder engine which produces 170bhp to the front wheels. That original Coupe series has a new addition in the form of the Coupe GT, which is still the same Coupe, but with updated asthetics.
