What happened to Lifan's bid for the Tritec engine factory in Brazil? Does anyone know whether Lifan was successful or not?
Does Chrysler continue to sell engines from its half stake in Tritec to both Chery and Lifan?
A Lifan slogan quoted in a New York Times article: "Whoever wrecks Lifan's brand, Lifan will wreck that person's rice bowl."

Yes, but you hardly see the Lifan bikes here, at least in the big cities of the east where motorbikes are looked upon as peasent vehicles. Lifan do really well in the export market for their bikes, especially south east Asia. They have a soccer team in Vietnam. They did AMAZINGLY well in Vietnam, probably why they can bankrole rally teams and factories.
But the cars..... you never ever see them out on the roads...... too bad, because they seem okay for a low end budget family car.
Chinese motorcycle exporter Chongqing Lifan Holdings, which only began assembling cars in 2006, has expressed interest in acquiring BMW's engine factory in Campo Largo, Brazil, says Singapore-based online news source, China Knowledge.
i expected faster progress from lifan by now..it had head start since so big motorcycle manufacturer

Não é certo que a Lifan acabe levando a Tritec para a China, pois o governo brasileiro esta sendo pressionado pelos sindicatos e opinião publica local.
Tritec Motors will not comment on reports that Chinese manufacturer, Lifan, wants to acquire the currently idle engine manufacturing operation and move it to China

Lifan unsucessful in a bid to buy Tritec factory in Brasil - from China Car Times!
Lifan tells us that they didnt successfully buy the BMW Tritec factory in Brazil, due to the Brazilian government not allowing them to move the entire factory to China, but they did buy the BMW 1.6 engine, Lifan used this engine for a length of time before they developed their own series of engines, presumably based around the acquired BMW technology. Lifan has already created a Euro 5 spec engine, and may well go headlong into the European market.
