Maybe. I still have some research to do, but I found a Mad Max police car replica in Adelaide Australia that is in good shape, and in my price range. I know this isn't a Chinese car, but the importation procedure should prove interesting. I'll will keep you guys posted on my progress.
Conversely, does anyone have any experience/advice to offer?

Been there, done that - very experienced in this.

What year is the car? If 25 years old or more, you just have it shipped in, easy as getting a letter in the mail.

If it is LESS than 25 years old, be prepared to spend no less than 2-3 times the value of the vehicle to have it pass emissions and safety specs, all work you are not allowed to do yourself.

Remember, the seller can legally sell it to you. You can legally get it on the boat, and legally have it delivered to port. Unless you spend gobs of time, money, and most of your hair, it will never get any further.

I know this from very painful (and expensive) experience

Actually, looking up what you are talking about, it is a 1974 vehicle.

You MUST hire a customs broker who, for a grand or so, will help you do the rest. Can't be done without a broker.
