If U live in the US, the car in the pic is a Nissan 240SX, from 1989 on, and was killed a few years back.

Good handling, okay power, cramped interior, so-so fuel economy. Cheap thrills for the younger crowd. Many tuners like it cuz it's cheap and RWD, which is rare amongst Japanese cars.

I nearly bought one when it first came out. I ended up with a used Porsche 944, which is a way better car - tho the electrical problems drove me nuts, but chicks dig it.

Drift Motion

so far its been reliable, too slow, interior is okay with me, MPG numbers are not THAT bad, roughly 25mpg

but i love the styling...haha

S13 is not the name on the badge, but the manufacturers designation. Over the last few years its become the cool thing to refer to your nissans as S13, r32 etc, or your beemers as e34, e39 etc. Its also clearer as long as you know the codes.

I drive a Japanese car(s). A Nissan Sentra daily driver/autocrosser and a Toyota Supra Drag racer/money pit.

Drift Motion

whats wrong with the chassis code, its more specific than 240sx, if you say 240sx, it could be a s13 or s14
and i drive a USDM car, not JDM, thus i wont call mine a 180sx, so a s13 hatch is the best/easiest way to describe it

I don't disagree at all.

well... sad that i cant see that image.... but 180/240sx lol just a difference between a lil jap n a bigger american dude. all i can say is, these lil cars does drift good.... but the rev limit was way 2 low... stock @ around 6500 rpm, lil tuned chip would only make it 7500, a rough guess, cuz my friend has 1 of those

i drive a 95 2.0 toyota corona(caldina) and a 06 Honda Civic 1.8S. I love toyotas for their reliability but looks always a bit conservative...thats one of the reasons why i bought the civic.

Our main transport vehicle is a Nissan X-Trail 4x4 2004, with 100.000 on the meter. We use it on the highway and off-road in the mountains, going up tracks. It is a good combination of both.

Rally Red Lancer GTS
09-07-2008, 01:03 PM
I don't think I've chimed in yet. Yes, I drive a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS with the 2.0L 152hp Mitsu motor and automatic CVT tranny with titanium paddle shifters. It is a car I really love and it's also my first Japanese car. This Lancer GTS breaks a pattern of two new Kia's I bought, starting in 1999. Before that it was three Ford's, and before that it was a '73 Plymouth Gold Duster, before that a '66 Ford Fairlane 4-door sedan. Before that, a 1970 Chevy Suburban huge SUV and before that, my first car, a 1965 Ford Mustang.

That '65 Ford Mustang's bodystyle and my '08 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS are my two favorite car bodystyles of all time from any manufacturer and from any time period. Period.

rally red, i agree with you the new lancer is a mans car just like the mustang!
yesterday i went to the mitsubishi showroom to look at the montero sport for my growing family...thats when i had my first encounter with the evo10! I have to say the new mitsubishis are beautifully designed....and because of this i might end up with a mitsu montero sport rather than the toyota fortuner. a big step cuz aside from my civic ive always been loyal to toyota. a 2004 Toyota Corolla diesel made in Japan

Jeebus, a Corolla diesel. That must be nice mileage....

Oh, and on topic: I don't drive a Japanese car. Might consider a Toyota Matrix for the Alero replacement though.

hmmm.... I would have expected more from a diesel. A ten year old Corvette can get 30 mpg with a 5.7L gas engine. I guess the A8 must weigh a good bit....

And I've got a FinePix A350. :)

I've always bought japanese cars. 2 Nissan and 1 mazda (mx5) that I currently own.

I think that the reliability of japanese cars is exceptional nowadays, and I hope the chinese through decades will achieve the same level to be really competitive.

The mileage is ok, its a basic 2.0 liter engine without turbo, maybe 8 or 9 liter per 100 kms. But it as already run over 450.000 kms in bad roads

I also own a daihatsu sirion 999 cc petrol engine that runs 100 kms with 5 liters.

Japs rule.

GT-r's are indeed awesome cars, i never get bored of mine, however i hate driving it in traffic.

bought a Toyota Yaris 1.0 recently, apart from the excelleng mpg and lower running costs, it has no sense of occasion.

as for the s13/14 nissan silvia's, they are awesome cars, the 1.8 litre turbo is tunable and unbreakable, and the rwd configuration is priceless

I drive a RAV-4 (2006). Do love Toyotas...they are so reliable as long as you service them regularly. The only thing I don't like about the RAV-4 is it's hard to see everything when backing up--the rear window is too high or something.

I'm going to learn to drive in a 2005 Suzuki Swift 1.3 litre import. Easy to get these sorts of cars in New Zealand due to the fact that 85% of cars here are Japanese imports. My friend (nzsaab) drives a 1980 something Ford Laser which is a rebadged Mazda 323 from years ago.

who drives a japanese car here?

Me and many Thai people are.

I drive a Mazda B2500 Fighter (reached 149,000 km), or a 2003 Honda City (reached more than 200,000 km), both of cars are registered to my dad.

All cars owned and registered to a person from my family/cousins are Japanese cars, except a Jeep and a Proton Gen-2.
