Have you had any problems or do you have any suggestions on how
we can improve our site? Or just compliments?
Please post here:

suggestions:

- major re-design of the website and forums
- a forum for every Chinese passenger car manufacturer
- make forums faster, now it works too slow

To be honest we need more Admins(Admin you would still have ownership of the forum ;)), Super Mods & Moderators to clean, stick & merge threads.

I'd consider coming back If I could be an admin.
I'd want to change my username, though.

My suggestions.

First I agree with phaeton that we need more admins and moderators and bigger engagement of current mods.
Second, somebody should urgently clean forum, merge threads and move certain threads to right subforums.
Third, more Chinese companies should get their own subforum.
Fourth, members should get the right to change the name of the thread they started as on other forums.
Fifth and most important - owners of this site could try to promote the forum in PRC to attract new members from this country. I'm suprised in how few Chinese members we have. They could provide us with latest happenings in Chinese auto-industry, interesting pictures and other infos - not just those you can find on English speaking websites.

Something has to be done ASAP if we want to save this forum.

Hi Martin, I am taking your suggestions very very seriously as you are a very knowledgeable and old member.

1. i will start a thread asking people if they want to be moderators and will select 3 new ones
2. i and a few others like ash are deleting spam, moving forums appropriately but maybe we need to do more
3. agreed, i will create another thread asking which auto manufactureres should get their own thread
4. i will make this possible for all members (i htought members could already do this)
5. i will try to promote, but doesnt help that PRC has blocked our site in some cities.

thanbks you and u can check the thread request in general discussion!

Suggestion:

Make the "Search" function accept model numbers, and acronyms like BAW.

Comment:

It's really a pity that the PRC is blocking this site, and depriving its people of a rich source of information. So many could benefit from knowing what's going on in the world of automobiles, especially the youth. In fact a forum such as this can even be a boost to science and technology studies. Not to mention a way of enhancing the study of English.

If the cars are available for sale and the knowledge is out that there is a lot more activity recently with Chinese car makers building more and different models, what is there to hide? Sharing in the building knowledge is the known manner of production(with GM, Mitsubishi, Hyundai, Kia, VW, etc.) and this is really not a secret, either, at least I don't think it is.

So, where's the beef?

As a follow up to the December 8th CCF posting guidelines, I would like to suggest that all quotes of outside articles or information, be preceded by the name of the source (and date) that they come from.

It gets confusing when some folks post lengthy stories that appear to be their own.

Thank you, and I hope I am not repeating what's already been said.

Thanks for your responses Martin and Ash, and for the follow up action.

On another subject, it seems that these days there are a number of irrelevant subjects showing up in the general discussion, new posts section.

e.g. "how to find popular sites via the internet"

I think this could be a turn off to serious visitors who might otherwise gravitate to this site.

OK.
All threads which appear in various sections but have no connection with Chinese auto industry whatsoever, will be moved to Off-topic subforum.

wrxowner...this forum loads a tad slow for me, too. It's a bandwidth thing, or something similar. I just give it a moment and it loads up fine. It's usually worth the wait. This forum does touch on leading edge Chinese automotive information and has been a nice find so far.

Well sorry mass'r i didnt means to offend ya. I promise I gonna work extra harder in the t'bacca fields...

Anyway with that being said, We should have a forum about actual car dealerships in china and places where you can buy a car. Oh, and I think Fudi should have there own forum. Not just for them, but because "57000000000%" of all chinese gmc parodies get there stuff from Fudi, so they should have all of there spinoff companies along with them in there own forum instead of them being mixed with actual independent companies.

Well ok thats a good point. Well heres a few more suggestions:

1. GONOW should be taken down cause I dont think there in business no more (There sites always down)
2. Soyat shuld have there own subforum
3. I gotta have more cowbell

I apologize for asking for gonow to be taken down, but I think the administrator should probably put a proper link to there website on the MANUFACTURERS menu.:o

And I stand by my suggestion for Fudi. They may seem small, but like I said, and I quote:

"57000000% of all chinese gmc ripoffs get there bodies from Fudi"...

for that I presume there big players in the game, so they should have there own area I think.:thumb:

CCF was always one of the best and fastest in my book, but last week had slowed considerably. Somehow now it's picked up a bit though.

Oh, allow me to add just one more thing. The site's search engine still does not let us search by acronyms or numbers. For example, FAW, or 863 (the State Plan for development of new energy vehicles).

I'd like to see Zotye move from "Other" to replace Gonow on the "Forum" front page (with the big guys). Zotye is expanding at a more rapid rate with its purchase of both Jiangnan and Xindadi, and with its new tie-up with Fiat. Gonow on the other hand is pretty much just an assembler.

Martin, Thank you for the support with regards Gonow. But Admin must see it differently.

It's true Gonow doesn't seem to be attracting any media attention with changes to their model lineup. And so I was surprised to hear last week that they are raising the prices on those outdated models of theirs.

The lack of exciting new models not withstanding, they do seem to be actively sowing their seeds in overseas markets. Incon of Uruguay tells us in a recent post, that they are there in his country and he was impressed by them.

Are they cooperating with Daewoo International on anything, as reported some time ago?

Jason, if you are out there, tell us we are wrong about your company's lack of product innovation......

Lately we are seeing so many quotes from the "Gasgoo.com" news site that it seems to be dumbing down this forum. Anyone with an interest in the industry is by now aware that they can find a good source of current news there.

But traditionally CCF has had its own unique news, information, commentary, and contributors, that can't be found anywhere else. I hope it stays that way.

Polarsun is fading from view. No sales statistics are available and website news is no more current than way back in July 2007.
With this in mind I would suggest moving JAC to the front page in place of Polarsun.

Currently we are seeing a thread called: "Vehicle Recalls in China"
I would like to see that thread broken into the following two parts:

Vehicle Recalls in China: Domestic

Vehicle Recalls in China: Foreign

It seems that almost all the recalls are of foreign products or of foreign joint venture products. Too rarely do we see a Chinese manufacturer's product recalled. Think about the implications of this. What does it mean about the safety related accidents that are occurring and not being reported. This is called corruption and the Chinese "little guys" are getting hurt by it.

Kudos to FAW Car Co., Ltd. who recently recalled the Besturn, but such recalls are indeed rare.

From 7/15/09: 1,182 Besturns built from March 5 to March 30, 2009.
Reason: Quality problem caused glass on moonroof to loosen from the metal frame, which might lead to noise and water leakage. In extreme cases, moonroof windows could fall off causing safety risks.

Serious defects shouldn't be brushed under the rug because these companies are just fledglings among the big boys. If you are in the game, play by the rules.

In this respect it seems we need to revive the "Serve the People" slogan.

martin_krpan
12-17-2009, 09:49 AM
I can split the thread but is it really necessary? Now we have one place where people can read about all recalls in China.
But if you want two threads it will be done.

And not just joint ventures, domestic producers are also recalling vehicles. Wuling for example recalled more than 26.000 minibuses back in 2008.
30.04.2008 - General Motors' commercial vehicle venture in China is recalling 26,076 minibuses in the country to fix potential problems with fuel sensors, China's quality watchdog said.

The Wuling-branded mini-buses were produced by SAIC-GM-Wuling between Aug. 9, 2007, and March 15, 2008, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said late on Tuesday.

It did not say whether any accidents or personal injuries were linked with the defect.
This news was published in SAIC-GM-Wuling thread.

But tiny players such as Shuanghuan, Hafei and not to mention all those SUV manufacturers are probably indeed trying to save some coins and are not publicly announcing any problems regarding their products.

dragin
12-17-2009, 10:25 AM
I can split the thread but is it really necessary? ......

Chery, Geely, Chang'an, Brilliance, Soueast are not so tiny anymore.

But, maybe we can wait to see if there's any response here to my post, and let the readers decide.

I had a contact with Admin and he is very keen to make some changes to better. He is also thinking about creating some new subforums.

So now we all have a chance to express our ideas and suggestions before changes start to take place.

Thereby I call all member to write down there ideas here in this thread.

Here are my first quickly-made suggestion.
1.) I think it's time for some forums to go as there is hardly anything going on there. These are especially Stocks & Investments and CCF Member's Talent.
2.) As mentioned many times before Jianghuai Auto (JAC) needs its own forum. On the other hand there are some relatively inactive producers which could be removed from main page. They could get own subforums inside 'Others' forum.

I have some more radical ideas but I will keep them for later.

And what are your thoughts?

KiwiGuy
01-01-2010, 04:43 PM
I don't want to get rid of some forums but simply put them into an off topic one, like the Member's Talent for instance. I would like to be a mod, but I am afraid that I might stuff something up (I don't know my way around the site as others do.)

I think this website is growing if we are talking about making changes like this. I'm on other VBulletin sites with as many as over 100 different forums.

Hey guys...

I donīt wanna be the guy with the bad news, but someoneīs gotta say it: The CCT needs some changes. Urgently!

A) Artificially created viewing numbers.

I am sure that everyone knows that most figures in brackets are numbers, created by bots. Which is sad. I dont need virtually bloaded numbers - gimme the real numbers of peoples reading a threat. Actually, I know no other forum that manipulates itīs viewing figures in such a way.

B) Please update the preview-texts of the single manufacturers.

I really like the fact that every manufacturer, who has its own sub-forum, has its own introduction sentence. But most texts are ancient! E.g. Chery: "Chery has so far launched its products in 29 countries and plans to enter the North American market in 2007/08." :nono:

Itīs 2010, guys. Everyone knows that Chery hasnīt entered the US american market yet. I am sure it wonīt take long to sum up the current situation, and it would be a good start to some welcomed changes to this forum.

C) Please concentrate on the topic.

Thatīs my last comment. It is really nice to have some feedback, here. But please not another question like "I wanna sell this car in (whereever). Does anyone know how to contact the sales departement of (whoever)?!" No offense here, but it discontinues an ongoing discussion and leads away from what we are discussing here: cars.

dragin, that's up to us. It's what we make of it. We either parrot or mimick other sites or we do the research and work ourselves and build a solid reputation as an industry leader. Any paid positions available here?

No really. I'm being semi-serious here. I think we could make this thing work by getting some good advertisers and then get cracking doing some solid writing about the Chinese car industry. Anyone else want to join me? We would probably want to move to Shanghai to get the close-up view of Chinese cars, eh?

dragin
01-13-2010, 09:59 AM
First you would have to come up with the capital to buy the site outright. That would give you the control to make it a success. But the current owner is apparently doing well with a minimum of input and so it's unlikely to be up for sale.
There are a few competitors out there but so far they suffer from poor management. I expect that one day soon a website will appear that will blow away all others. Red Rally if you are a part of that successful enterprise and get super rich, I hope that you won't forget me and the old times we spent here at CCF.

Kidding aside Red Rally I think your idea of doing it out of Shanghai is great. That's an ideal location. It's central to China and would allow your staff to keep their ears close to the ground, to know exactly what's happening in all sectors of the industry.

It's a shame that we now have to keep the kids away from this forum. What with the village idiots posting gutter language on a daily basis, mature adults don't even want to be seen accessing this website. Moreover they don't want to encourage young people to have a look either.
But there is one comfort thanks to the vigilance of Martin Krpan. If we are careful about what time we access CCF then chances are the trash has been cleared away and it becomes a normal website again.

dragin and KiwiGuy, let me address both of your informative posts.

dragin-I am currently working at a good job and my wife is also working at the same place here in Willcox, AZ. We love the climate and love our house and animals and friends, etc., here in the community. It is a place where the Chiricahua Apache used to roam and live amongst (and fight with) other tribes and the Spanish would travel up to America to explore and eventually settle with and also fight with the various tribes. Geronimo was of the Chiricahua Apache Indian tribe.

Unique rock formations abound in places like Texas Canyon and the Chiricahua National Monument. I have found this place to be a real enjoyable place to live. To get more choices in shopping one has to travel 35 miles west to Benson, AZ, and/or go 80 miles west to Tucson, AZ, a city with an overall area population of 1 million people.

I am usually very content to just work and live here in Willcox, AZ, and enjoy surfing the internet for all of the worldwide news and information it offers daily. I have learned so much on this site. But from time to time I think about working in the automotive field. Working with my passion, which is automobiles. Aside from those thoughts I don't really know about how to make it work. Some websites are offering those that are interested opportunites to write automotive articles. Then you would just go from there and see what they think. So that's a way to get started. Coming up with a lot of capital would no doubt be a tough way to go for most of us, as far as buying a site like CCF, or another one available. The idea is worth continuing to discuss in here, though, I would think.

KiwiGuy-are those paragraphs out on the main page helpful in that regard, or do we need another thread to help in this area? I know that I am often clueless about which cars are which. I usually enjoy looking at and learning about the new cars being produced, and thinking about whether or not I might like to own one of them. For instance, it is on this site that I have learned more about BYD's e6 all-electric car. And they are bringing them to the States in late 2010, last I read.

That is one way that coming here to CCF is a joy and well worth my time.

dragin-I would very much miss the good times had here at CCF, for sure. Oh, and Shanghai seems a natural choice to start an enterprise in. Partly because it would seem to be an English-friendly huge and exciting city to locate and work in, eh?

KiwiGuy

Dear Members,

I am so sorry for my absence in the Forums lately, I've been busy with some things.

About the new Forum theme and images, I tried to contact Admin to send him the new pictures and suggestions, but with no success. Anyway, I will post the new images/icons here so he can choose wether to use them or not.

To download all the images, use this link: http://www.ziddu.com/download/8977426/NewImages.zip.html

Cheers to everyone !

Markus.

The BRAND LOGOS can be downloaded from the first link I posted. I wouldn't post them 30 here because it would take too long.

Also in the RAR file are the "Stretch" images [Admin will get what I mean] and the new Forum Color Suggestion.

Sorry for the pornographic ads in the picture upload website, that was the only website I found on Google to upload images from a RAR file fast.

Cheers !

Thanks for your effort MarkusRD. I hope Admin will notice it and make a good use of it.
By the way good luck with your bussiness with importing electric cars to Brasil.

This site is basically top-notch and ever since it was trimmed out and spiffed up it's even better. Thank you for helping to make this site a joy to come to every day!
