im in the market for a new car and id love to get an inexpensive reliable one. the chinese cars certainly sound attractive pricewise but im not familair with them. im looking for infromation on mechanical reliability issues, fuel consumption, etc. noone expects them to be much good but who knows, people once said japanese and korean cars wouldnt sell here either.

So far there are no Chinese made cars in North America yet, Vision Auto was suppose to bring Chery cars in by 2008, but they have decided to design and build hybrids instead now.

Chrysler is will be bringing in the Chery A1 (Hornet) by 2009.

Well, your out of luck like me here in Montreal. You will have to wait till 2009 when Chrysler imports the Chery Hornet as part of their model line up, but knowing them they will jack up the price with the Chrysler badge on it. ZX Auto might beat them to it in late 2008.

guess we will have to wait and see. i know chinese motorcycles are a joke. there still using 1940s technology for godsakes. the cars should be more advanced since there building them to western standards for export.

or which Chinese motorbikes makers do you mean ? and specifically which 1940s technology are you referring to ?

Sure their cars will be up to standards since they have to meet all the criteria of Europe and America in order to enter.
