This model is no longer produced by Zhongxing. Originally this model was developed by a small auto manufacturer called Huaxiang Fuqi. As you can see it's a copy of Toyota Land Cruiser 110. Huaxiang introduced this car in 2002 and the model name is "Fuqi 6500". In 2003 Huaxiang worked together with the company Zhongxing which for a while also sold this model. But in 2004 the co-operation stopped. Huaxiang still produces this model. The price is between 139.800 - 179.800 yuan. The factory is located in Jiangxi province. Only a handful of cars are made each year.

I also remeber reading somewhere that the FQ6501B has a Nissan derived 3.0 Inline 6 but I cant remeber the model number of the engine design.

Here are the specs on the engine from the website...

Item Unit Data

Engine type BN6V87QE
Rated power kw(r/min) 118(5200)
Max.torque N.m(r/min) 248(3400-3600)
Displacement ml 2960

The other version (FQ6501A) comes with a common Mitsubishi 4G64 92 kilowatt engine.

This is what it says about the transmission...

Transmission Manufacturer Beijing Gearbox Factory
Type BorgWaner T5-B1

The BorgWarner T5 is one of the best transmissions ever made!

Acceleration is a bummer though, "under the testing condition and the acceleration to 100 km/h takes 25 seconds." :(

Its also good to know that this company owns the intellectual property rights to produce this Landcruiser derivative.

"FQ6510 series light duty passenger vehicles are produced based on the introduction of body dies of original LandCrusier. We own the complete copy right of the design after the new engineering development and the vehicle is provided to the market as a leading large sized SUV. The strong and dynamic body style makes it a fashionable model in the market. Optional 2.4 L engine and 3.0 L engine provide great power for the driving requirement."

thanks for taking the pictures Hazik, also why is the logo on these cars different than zhongxings original logo?

Because that is logo of Huaxiang Fuqi (http://www.hxfqmotor.com/english/index.htm), not logo of Zhongxing.

the Toyota land cruiser has a reputation as 'The offroader Africa couldnt break':)

Toyota has a reputation of relibility and dealer and parts backup 2nd to none. They sell cars world wide. In the JD power associates survey Toyota/Lexus comes in 1st for customer satisfaction.

How do you know that this model a Chinese produced spinoff is worse ? if it has copied all the Toyota parts :D ?

It may be the most reliable Chinese 4x4 around ;)

well the chinese spin off will be worse off, which is why they are cheaper and have difficulty penetrating the world market, something toyota have no problem with.

No CCT. I'm pretty but not that pretty.....or so my wife tells me..:)

I don't know the little lady but I do wish she would log on and tell us how she likes its quality so far. I'd also love to know how the after-sales service and the parts availability are. But chances of that happening are zero to nil.

Toyota Land cruiser is way over priced. It uses old technology. Why should I pay 3 times money on basically the same technology? Without counting tax difference, the price in China for Fuqi one is about $20,000 US dollars. I have an old land cruiser (LC 80). Yes, they are reliable. I never drive Fuqi one. As a Chinese in USA, I really want to test drive it. They are not allowed to sell in US due to all sorts of reasons. The dealer in China told me it is becuase of emssion and safety regulations in US. I am not quite convinced. They forgot to tell me political reasons. US's auto industry don't want to take another strike. Fuqi's LC looks good. But the engine seems too weak. They need to put at least a 4.5 Liter engine as in Toyota LC. It will be really popular if they put such engine in order to sell in USA. Fuqi LC's diesel version is also attractive to me. Even all considered, I still don't think they can sell them to US. US market is way too competitive. And Fuqi's home plant don't have such manufacturing ability. Their quality and safety haven't been proved by the market yet. It's not a good business model to build car like this. You copy legally an already established model by Toyota. That doesnot mean you have their equal abilities. I feel sad about this for Chinese auto makers.

All emotions aside, please don't insult Land Cruisers by making such comparison.
For one thing, the FQ6500's propulsion system is decades behind of the current Land Cruiser's.
...And not mentioning the unproven reliability of the FQ6500.

It is already laughable to put "FQ6500" and "Land Cruiser" in one sentence.

true that, really... don't go doubting the poor quality of chinese remakes until you've sat in one. It really is that bad, besides you can see the appaling fit and finish and shoddy plastics just from pictures.

Hello Admin,
This thread is misleading, especially to newcomers. The Zhongxing-Fuqi
tie-up was short lived and has been defunct for years.
Now the two companies are each back on their own.... struggling to survive at selling dated technology, and not seeing too much hope of doing so for much longer.
As for the quality....it takes big injections of capital, and time, to get there.

This product is still available but under fuqi network. Only the outside is a Land Cruiser. The engine, the transmission and the power train is what you will find on many other chinese vehicles of it's kind, that as I understand is technology that has been on the market for at least 15 years and proof they are very very reliable.

dragin
05-01-2009, 08:51 AM
Yes you may be right JVPE 67, they may have some reliable technology on the inside but if it's outdated then it just can't compete in today's marketplace. The old cassette tape player was reliable too but when I bought my last car they told me it wasn't available anymore.
And I don't think that either Fuqi or Zhongxing had anything to display at Shanghai this year.
