Hi!

I am a new member with some questions ...

First, some background ... I am going to buy a QQ in Beijing. I went to one "dealer" who gave me a price quote on different models, ranging from about 33K RMB to 40K RMB. The dealer also mentioned that these were the MSRP prices and that each dealer will offer different discounts (e.g., 3% at this dealer) and perhaps different servicing packages.

Now, is there somewhere I can find the "official" price list?

Is there an "official" warranty?

Is the "warranty" honoured at all dealers, or just the dealer you bought the car from?

And, finally, what sort of used-car market is there for the QQ? Someone has posted a QQ on an english Beijing board for 30K RMB, it is a absic 2005 with 24K kilometers.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I'm new here. I know tons about Chery's history but I can't read Chinese and that makes it really hard for me to find decent pics and info of their new cars. All there cars have a codename and a real name but I've seen the V5 sometimes called the V3 etc.... I was wondering if any of you could give me a simple list of all of Chery's cars and their future models and when they are expected. Also as many pics as possilbe would be nice, but I have all I could find.

I found this post in "Moter Trade Malaysia forum". Is this guy talking about the shiftronic? But it sound a bit weird that it uses one button to change the mode. In shiftronic case, you just need to move the gear to where they have + - stuff. And is the 5 speed is a suitable for the car, which is the sub compact class with a small engine? For this kind of car, wouldn't be the CVT (continuously variable transmission) better?

"Heard fromAlado Salesman said , they will be AMT version QQ.
Auto Manual Transmission. You can switch between Auto and Manual with only one button. Like Bat MAN car, can fly and dip inside water...by the way, what i am interested is that the QQ AMT will have 6 gear (5 front and 1 reserve) exactly same as manual car. You dont have to engage clutch to change gear. They called it Easy drive. Suprisingly there is a computer learning your driving style to coompesate the changing gear....What car can offer this features?"

Hey all ,

I am in the final stages of buying myself a Chery TIGGO.

I have gone through the entire forum...looking for some sort of a feedback on as to how the car performs.

I have gone for a test drive and the car feels good. Especially for the price ...it seems to be among the very few cars that are cost effective.

I would like to know ---

How the TIGGO actually is on the long run...?

In the UAE ( Dubai ) Cherry is'nt known at all .. so am facing a lot of flack --- saying that its an unknown entity.

Any and all HELP would be much appriciated.:)

EDIT just thought does Chery have a Warranty ?
If yes then take it to Chery dealer to get fixed for free/or cheaper labour (providing you have not broken the warranty).

Well, you can take the car to your local Chevrolet dealer and have the transmission replaced with a genuine Daewoo transmission. I hear stories of frustrated Chinese Chery owners having their QQs repaired with genuine parts at Chevrolet dealers because their local Chery dealers couldn't fix them.

Remember that Chery did not engineer QQ, so they do not know how to fix more difficult problems. This is the problem with building cars with purchased/pirated technology, because the builder doesn't understand the product they are building.

go to your Chery local dealer , they will take care of it , ignore the above posts , its just mocking nothing usefull there

Even the local chery dealer here fixes all the troubles with thier QQs here , Never heard a person complain , with tha 0.8 and the 1.1 one .

You do indeed have a problem if you are coming here to seek a fix for your QQ's troubles at 3300 km.

Logic says it makes more sense to go to Chery's After Sales Department and get what you are entitled to .....a qualified diagnosis and a complete repair(as Phaeton advised above).

Make sure Chery accepts accountability for the performance of their product. It's all in the warranty literature they should have given you if you bought the car as new.

And if they don't satisfy you, come here for some help as to who in the government you can contact to record your complaint. The State Bureau of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (GAQSIQ), would be glad to hear from you.

It may be as simple as a loose motor mount preventing the clutch from fully disengaging during the downshift.

Good luck.

Problems when shifting down e.g. from third to second are generally related to the synchromesh on the gear you are trying to select.

If it is not making noise, but just reluctant to go in, it may improve with more mileage. If it is crunching then it needs to be fixed.

Vibration when pulling away sounds like you may have clutch judder, could be the clutch is damaged. Could also be your technique.

On both these points you need to take it to an authorised service centre. You will find a list of these in the back of the small booklet that comes with the car. All these problems would be covered by the warranty, you pay nothing. I have owned a Chery and found the three sevice companies I used were both very good (I used three because of geography, one was where I used to live, and when I moved to shanghai one was close to my work and one close to my home).

Ignore people who say 'I've heard blah blah blah chevrolet. What they mean is that they saw it on the internet and are trying to bore us to death with the story.

nail the throttle.
with the engine bouncing off the rev limiter, dump the clutch.
hang on to the wheel and let the tyres do the work.

hi, nelson. what does the dealer claim the ave. fuel consumption to be? you are right in that the operation of the a/c does take something off fuel economy, & living in singapore means the a/c is on every time you drive. so, the ave. fuel consmption as claimed by the dealer should take this into account.

also, you cannot base the fuel consumption on a spot check basis. you will have to monitor your fuel consmption over a period of time-say 3 months, then take the average. the way to do this is relatively simple. all you need is an index card divided into three columns. col.1-date, col2-odometer reading, col3-liters of fuel loaded. to start, use up as much fuel as is safe so that the you have at most 1/4th tank left. fuel up & fill in the data, say 15 dec. 1535kms, 35 liters. at the end of say, one month, all you have to do is deduct the beginning reading from the ending reading to get the total kms run, then divide by the total amount of fuel loaded during the same period & you will have a fairly accurate ave. fuel consumption reading.

this figure should not deviate more than 20% from the dealer's claim. if more, you have cause to claim high fuel consumption.

The Tiggo is also known as the Ruihu 瑞虎 or Auspicious Tiger.

Ive always wondered why Chery chose the name Tiggo, did they screw up and mean to call it Tigger, like the Winnie the Pooh character?

Anyways, Tiggo, very nice. I rented one for a while back the biggest one they did, the 2.4 4wd version. Had it for a good few months. Very nice, very fast for its size and pretty good in the city. Bit too small though, looks big but you cant actually put much in it, i.e. grocery shopping always ended up on the back seat as the trunk/boot is tiny.

dragin
01-27-2007, 09:48 AM
My guess CCT is that Tiggo is a contraction of: Tiger and Go, much in the same way that Ji'ao Automobile chose Gonow for their brand name. An unfortunate mistake in my mind.
Tiggo on the other hand, sounds fine.

Sophistication in the marketing of global brand names will come in time for Chinese automakers. Think about the name Toyopet used by Toyota years ago. I think it was a name they conjured up when they didn't know any better. Later they began naming cars with names that suggest royalty, like, Crown, Corolla, Corona, etc.. For global marketing reasons they knew that those names were more pleasing to the Western ear. As for Datsun, someone told them their name was not pleasing and so they made the change to Nissan. Another big mistake because a major change like that in a brand name causes confusion and takes a long time to be assimilated by consumers. Acura repeated the mistake when they abandoned the hugely successful name "Legend". It hurt them a lot.

If you can read CHinese...

If you can't...

- the 4x4i apparently intelligently switches between FWD and AWD. Done by BorgWarner.

2005-11-22 14:26:22

I also keep an eye on that model. It's not the best choice here in Ukraine for the money they want.

Just read rewievs and opinions on that model at cinamobile.ru. It's similar to if you buy a Lada. In both cases there is a lot of creative possibilities for the owner on the way of the car improvement :D .

For the money it costs here I would buy Daewoo Nexia for instance or Daewoo Lanos. Yes, they are not ideal but will serve you five years at least without major problems.

I've been reading here and there that Chery A5 's fuel consumption is high .the gross weight 1665 kg - 1290 kg = 375 kg maximum passenger weight
If you carry five people in this car you'll so or so exceed from what is left for the passenger weight.and your car will consume much more than usual they say.
If someone knows some information please give me further details. especially the users' ideas are preferred.

It's even better if a driver writers his own experience.Because as I said I've been hearing that it's high.

About the other stuff, I have no knowledge about this or that so have no say in the matter. I am interested in historical WW stuff and the info about Russia participating in WW1 is something I never knew about and I'm interested in learning more about it. Thanks for that.

About the Chery/Chrysler partnership. What models is Chery producing? Anything coming through the pipeline that anyone know of?

Thanks for any info.

Are you of Chinese descent? Then buy the dang thing already... ;) j/k

Actually, I for one am dying to know how the car is, so maybe you will be the one updating us on how it drives?!? That would be cool - our own reporter!

If you're concerned about possible problems, then use some of the money you saved (versus buying a competitor's car) on an extended warranty program. (And don't be cheap on regular maintenance.)

Hi, I'm new here.

I'm from Singapore and I want to buy a China-made car some time early next year but I want to make a careful purchase.

In terms of Safety, Reliability and Performance, which car is better ?

Geely CK or Chery A168.

I would really appreciate any reliable info. Thanks in advance.

07-30-2007, 02:39 PM
If I was you, I would definitely go for Chery cars, any Chery cars are better made than Geely. As I said, so far Chery cars do not receive any harsh complaints from the customers except for its rather high fuel consumption, other than that everything is fine. And as you can see from that car sales tabel, Chery is outselling a number of well known car maker. And I don't think it is just because of its small engine and low price but also because of its reliability and performance. As you can see that member wendy already made a complaint about her Geely car in Geely car forum and I believe she is not the first one to make such complaint about Geely, I heard from a singaporean complaining about Geely car's exhaust fell off on the road, but never heard of such problems from Chery at all. Many Pakistani customers really favour Chery (especially Chery QQ) as it runs very smoothly even on a long journey. Chery can really offer a low price cars with good quality.

Anyway, That is the advice I can give you, but in the end it is really up to you to buy the car You desire . So good luck with your new car

Thank you for reading :)

Chery is definitely a better buy. However, you may want to consider the A5 which has a better spec than 168.
I'm told that 168 has very good pick up after the engine run-in.

Well, it depends on you.
I've seen both cars, and I can tell that I like the A1 much more than the QQ6, its design is much better, its build feels a bit stronger, and it's roomy on the inside, not a small hatchback at all.

Just curious as to what the bell housing bolt pattern for the Chery 1.6 Litre SOHC engine is based on I am leaning Ford or Mazda, but I don't know. I guess the better question is what engine would bolt up to a Chery Wincloud 1.6 also does the acteco and triton have different bell housing patterns? Also do the manifolds interchange with another mfr?

Engine is model SQR480 if that helps

I suppose it is one of the oldest and, perhaps, the most reliable engines that Chery initially started to build in its early years. I heard it was based on an old Ford engine design. And even some rumors say it was actually produced from the second-hand product line Chery purchased from one of Ford's former factory in UK back in 1990s. One thing is sure that Chery has undergone substantial redesign/retooling and improvement upon the original Ford engine since the early days so that this engine now is quite well known in China by its some hundrads of thousands users as a quite reliable, noisy but sufficiently economical engine with its 1.6l displacement.

Hope this can be a little helpful.

NEWYORK
07-03-2008, 09:07 PM
It is looing like the old Ford CVH series engine, but with a cam sensor in place of the distributor. I do not see the crank position sensor mount, it also uses the older style valve cover with the perimeter mounting bolts versus the three mounting bolts used on later versions of the CVH engine. I'll do some more research on manifold interchange are there any english language websites for part descriptions and interchange information.

i don't know if this is even the correct forum or even the correct place to post this but here goes it...

i am looking to purchase an imported go kart/dune buggy/sand rail from china which is equipped with a chery 1l 4 cylinder engine....

before i do so i have a bunch of questions regarding the engine and its origin (seeings as if its a clone motor parts might be easier/cheaper to find here in America)

other questions involve the ease of tuning the chery delphi mt20u ecu/ecm if any programs exist and or pre tuned fuel maps exist both for performance as well as fuel millage?

what performance parts are available crank shafts, cam shafts, connecting rods, pistons, rings, performance hears??? is there any tune ability of this motor @ all???

performance stats of your own engine parts compression ratio and the such

thanks for any info you can provide this American James

i guess after some further research the engine model is

LG465Q-1 ANE1/1.1L with a 65.53mm bore and a 71.88mm stroke (969cc) (yeah it needs bored and stroked

running delphi chery mt20u efi/ecu/ecm

any thoughts on how far a person could bore this engine block? would 7mm be to much? (thats a 0.30" increase in bore)

http://syndication.syntric.net/inventory/images/192/parts/big/32561_1.JPEG

realistically im looking for a margin of about 59.66kw (i think thats the correct measurement (80hp) with out a turbo... would that be an unrealistic figure?
