Looks like VW's FAW Joint Venture is facelifting the Mk4 to bring it into line with VW's latest lineup.

Expect this to come out in a month or two.

Fact FAW-VW sell 3 generations of Jetta's in China.
There is the Facelifted Mk2 Jetta http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:FAW-VW_Jetta_2004.JPG, the Mk4 Jetta as Bora and the soon to be released Mk5 Jetta as Sagitar.

i dont know why they sell 3 gens of the jetta...they should just sell the latest:confused:

The older Jetta's are so much cheaper to buy I guess. Old Jetta's have been produced in big quantities for many years and therefore the price can be put lower and lower.

bit of a classic the old Jetta. even though the CHASSIS dates from 1983 and has a torsion beam rear suspension, it probably cost the appropriate 500M USD to develop so it's not a bad motor. cheap to buy and run and very durable.

VW decided to refresh Bora in South America also. But unlike Golf their designers didn't have to do anything as they just copied FAW's redesign.

At the 2008 Beijing Auto Show FAW is going to roll out the Bora ‘Classic Edition’. It will probably be equiped with a 1.6 engine:

What's the meaning behind this car?

After new Bora, new Jetta and Sagitar still a Bora facelift?

FAW presented Bora Classic at 2008 Auto China but I can't see any difference to classic-less Bora GP. I'm guessing the car was simply renamed after the introduction of VW New Bora.

FAW-VW confirms Bora Classic is still produced.

October 8,2008 - China's auto giant FAW-VW said it will not cease production of Bora Classic recently, Chongqing Commercial Daily said yesterday.

Rumor has it that Bora Classic production has been halted to make way for the upcoming New Bora when FAW-VW showcased its New Bora and Olympic models lineup at the Chengdu auto show last month. FAW-VW denied this saying and stated that the company will not cease production of Bora Classic.

According to a FAW-VW executive, FAW-VW will not rashly halt production of a model which still has the market demand. He said the Bora Classic is still under production.

Since it was launched in December, 2001, the Bora, known for "drivers' favorite," has appealed to numerous young consumers thanks to its burly design, excellent performance, powerstrain, safety and conformability. Its average monthly sales of up to 6,000 have proved that Bora Classic still has a considerable market share in China.

Analysts said there is no reason for Bora Classic's production halt as it keeps stable sales. Bora, as a successfully positioned model, will see FAW-VW’s strategy in the segment market with New Bora going on sale.

I am not very familiar with Volkswagen cars, cause the only one I could always in here is those turtle type cars...what was that called again?

With 'turtle type cars' you are probably reffering to VW Beetle.
