The new Buick Excelle is set to take the Chinese market by storm when its launched, (perhaps in late 2008). The current Excelle already tops best selling compact sedan sales charts in China on a monthly basis, and the newer updated one shown below is set to follow that trend.
The new Excelle is set to come with the usual 1.6, and 1.8 engines that we see from Buick China, no word on the FRV or wagon version yet though!

Old Buick Excelle to be churned out as a Chevy.

The new Buick Excelle was feature on China Car Times a while back, where it met a mixed response from CCT commenters. However, the old Excelle received more than a warm response from Chinese consumers with it selling thousands of vehicles per month and often ending up in the top 10 sales lists. In true GM tradition, it seems from these photos that the old Excelle will not see the end of production, but will rather be shipped over to the Chevrolet China line up.
The Chevrolet ‘Excelle‘ (as we do not yet know its Chevrolet assigned name!) appears to have a slightly modified front and rear, as well as having different alloy wheels to the original Buick Excelle.
Chevrolet has become a ‘bargain bin’ brand for old GM cars of late. The Buick Sail became a Chevrolet Sail before it saw the end of production earlier this year. Previously the Buick Sail was the Opel Corsa C in Europe!

This new Excelle looks great and very impressive. The interior is nicely done and finished off beautifully. The exterior is simply gorgeous and I love those tail-lamps. Is there anyword whether the 1.6 and the 1.8 engines will recieive power boost or will they remain unchanged??

Buick’s Chinese division released official images of a refreshed 2009 Excelle subcompact ahead of its debut at the 2008 Beijing Auto Show later this month. The new car takes a page out of the larger Park Avenue's styling book, which is the flagship model in China based on Australia's Holden Statesman. The current Excelle is offered with either a 1.6 or 1.8 liter inline-four and it's expected the two will carry over to the 2009 model.

The car is built on a global platform GM made in conjunction with Daewoo, and has been sold as the Suzuki Forenza in the U.S. and the Chevrolet Optra in Canada, among other countries. It's also the same basic car as the Chevrolet Lacetti Top Gear uses for its 'stars in a reasonably priced car' segment.

New Excelle sales hit 9,000 units a week after launch.

June 3, 2008 - New Buick Excelle sold 9000 units in a week after going on sale on May 26. It is reported that the number of orders for the new Excelle is growing in nationwide Buick dealerships. Shanghai GM said the production line for Buick Excelle is operating to full capacity to meet the market demand.

New Excelle has been a subject of interest since it was displayed in April. The dynamic and modern design, delicate interior, luxurious configuration and European-style chassis of New Buick Excelle have won wide acclaim from the media and professionals alike. Seven models of Excelle different in configuration and selling price have met the demand of various consumers.

Excelle has demonstrated its strength again as a leading mid-sized car by its growing orders and surging sales. Priced at between 103,800 yuan ($14,935) and 149,800 Yuan, the upgraded Excelle sold 9000 units of three models after going on sale for just a week from May 26 to June1. The market prospects for Excelle are even worth anticipating along with another four models’ launch.

Buick Excelle is rebadged Daewoo Lacetti, right? It was badged as a Holden Viva in NZ and Australia. Didn't sell very well unfortunatley.

Excelle is indeed rebadged Nubira (Lacetti sedan). The car is being sold worldwide under different brands and names.
