Lifan 620 Reaches Production

Model: Lifan 620

Lifan Motors announced that it has designated their B-segment prototype LF7162 as the Lifan 620. The new model is expected to hit the market at the end of the year. Reportedly, the production line is already active, and Lifan is currently putting on the finishing touches before the car goes into mass production.

It is also reported that within a year the Lifan 620 will be available with either a 1.6L or 1.8L engine. Temporarily, however, only the 1.6L Tritec engine will be offered; Lifan will later release their self-developed 1.8L powerplant.

Presumably, the 1.8L option is the self-developed VVT-equipped engine mentioned in the following article: gasgoo.com/autobiz/4123/China-s-Lifan-launches-its-own-developed-VVT-engine.html

Does anyone have a picture of this new model? How will this differ from the 520, and in what markets will it be offered? Any other information?

I like the purple, but I think the grille looks like an Audi's grille. But nvm, since the Mazda Taiki grille also looks like the Audi grille anyway.

Hello Mememe, these are all renderings, pictures and models of the B-type. The second photo and the two to the right are made of the model which was presented at the Chongqing Motor Show, so I suppose that is the 620 in its rather definite form. Greetings! (Yers, I also prefere the purple renderings!)

if they are trying to make the car have somewhat of a luxury rendering they need to give it bigger wheels and rims

Official presentation. The Lifan 620 is expected to go on the market by April, and will be priced between 70 and 90,000rmb. Length wise, the 620 measures in at (LxWxH) 4450mm x 1705mm x 1490mm, with a wheelbase of 2600mm.

It is bland but no problems as long as it is their work, but I don't understand why Lifan is now crazy enough to chase a Mini cooper clone

I know what car you mean, but it doesn't look like a cooper. It's modelled after small Japanese city cars like a 2001 Daihatsu Sirion.

The soon to be launched Lifan 620 has already had a minor face change for the top of the range models.
The Lifan 620 ‘big mouth’ edition is being sold by Lifan as the most luxurious car they make, with it having a full leather interior (including steering wheel) and other extras as standard such as reversing sensors, ABS and EBD. Buyers of Lifan cars should expect excellent service with the latest 5 year, or 100,000km free servicing.

Lifan 620, 320 and 520i will be in Vietnam in Q3 this year.

Price of Lifan 620 is about $16.000-19.500 with 1.6 or 1.8 litres engines, 2 airbags, ABS and EBD, with the 1.6 litre engine the fuel consumption is 6.67 litres/100km

Lifan 320 is about $10.600

Lifan 520 is about $15.300


And from what I heard these prices are considered cheap if not very cheap in Vietnam compared to other marqes.

In Viet Nam, We need high quality car and acceptable price

Not like low price and bad quality

Not only in Vietnam

but everyone thinks and wants the same.

Maybe one day Chery should visit Vietnam, feedback from Chery customers so far have been favourable despite its price point.

Not a bad looking car mainstream, I liked the lines when I first saw them on the Subaru Legacy

Unable to purchase the Brazil-based Tritec production line and to take it home, I'm guessing that Lifan is still getting these engines from Chrysler there. Does anyone know?
Am also wondering when the self-developed VVT 1.8 Liter will be available for this 620 model.

Lifan 620 compact sedan goes on sale.

October 8, 2008 - Chinese automotive maker Chongqing Lifan Group has launched its long-delayed Lifan 620 compact sedan model recently, according to Beijing Reference News today.

Production of the Lifan 620 sedan had been delayed for a long time before the official launch. Currently the existing 1.6L model covers the DX economic, LX comfortable, and EX luxury versions, selling for 69,800 yuan($10,264), 73,800 yuan, and 79,800 yuan respectively.

Powered by the imported 1.6L Tritec engine, the Lifan 620 generates 85 kw and 149nm. Lifan Auto expected to increase its service stores to 500 by the end of this year. The Lifan 620 model on sale will boost Lifan’s sales network by expanding the model lineup for the dealers, sources said.

Lifan Auto also says its operations will not affected by its U.S. investor AIG which bought 13.5% of Lifan in July. A Lifan executive said that AIG's $90 million investment has all arrived in his company and Lifan's operations will not be affected by the Wall Street upheaval. The automaker is keeping an eye on American financial crisis.

Automatics are indeed popular Zoned87, but they are not easily available from Chinese makers like Lifan. That sophisticated technology is on its way but for now it remains too costly for most Chinese manufacturers.

Looks like the rear seat backrest covering came undone........a durability issue for Lifan new model.

It's not really advanced technology.

Zoned 87, you are right. It is not advanced..... but it's Chevrolet's.

The powerglide is one of the oldest and simplest designs for an automatic transmission, it would probably be cheap to licence the technology and replicate them.

Invented in 1948.

Can anyone comment on the build quality of this car? It doesn't look that bad on the pictures.

dragin, do you mean that the Lifan 620's trunk doesn't look spacious enough?

No Red Rally I am referring here to fit and finish. There are issues here with seat and other trim fit, as well as exposed wiring.

This is one of the best looking Chinese cars I have seen so far. I like the Euro-styling and the interior looks great and I just hope the fit and finish is as good as the car itself. :)

I know, but the side profile remains intact compared to the current 620 ('based on' the previous Toyota Corolla) and the new Lifan 520 (which is 'based on' the Toyota Vios/Yaris sedan)
