Soueast (Mitsubishi) Delica is a small van produced by Taiwanese China Motor Corporation and Chinese Soueast. Its name is derived from the English "DELIvery CAr".

This is how van looked like when it was introduced:

China Motor also signed agreement with Chrysler to export Delica to Mexico where it is sold as Dodge Van.

Cargo Van for Mexico

"The opportunities outside the U.S. are becoming more and more important," said Chrysler Group President and CEO Tom LaSorda. "These opportunities involve new markets, new segments, new potential alliance partners and new sources for components." LaSorda said the Chrysler Group's global strategy builds on the company's historic strengths, including the ability to respond rapidly and creatively to emerging opportunities. Forging strategic alliances is a cornerstone of the strategy.

The Chrysler Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with China Motor Corp. (CMC) to export a cargo van to Mexico. CMC will produce this vehicle at its assembly facility in Yangmei, Taiwan. The 1000Kg panel/cargo van built in Taiwan will be exported to the Mexican market where it will be sold as a Dodge vehicle.

chinoy54 - facts from Global Auto Index.

In 1996 the Fujian Motor Industry Group which already possessed a Mazda assembly plant made an agreement with China Motor Co. of Taiwan to set up an assembly plant in China. The 50/50 % joint venture was named Dongnan (South East). Assembly of the Dongnan Delica started in 1997. A new factory costing close to USD 1 billion was built outside Fuzhou. Production of the Mitsubishi Freeca was decided in 1998 and two years later the first Dongnan Freeca rolled of the line.
In March, 2003 the new Lioncel, based on a Mitsubishi Lancer went into production.
IN 2006 the whole lineup was reinvigorated with the introduction of a new-generation Lancer and a slightly updated Soveran, now called New Space Wagon.
