Like Peri and Cowry another GW's concept car is heading into production. This time it's time for Florid wich was presented to Chinese public in 2006. Paparazzi already caught camouflaged production version of the future hatcback on Chinese roads:

The rear looks a lot like the Scion xA, Toyota product. Scion discontinued the xA, its last production year was 2006. It was replaced by the Scion xD, on sale now in the US, anyway.

florid is in the final production...but will not hit the market soon, i see this car today with pery and cowry,i have opurrtunity to drive it also,interior is very nice..and comfortable, have g.w 1.3 efi engine, 65 kw

to me...florid looks much like new toyota yaris, but i really don't care about it, importat is that we will have quality car for lower price than toyota :) copy or not...isn't really mater to me

GW Florid sedan to roll off line in early October

Shanghai, September 12 (Gasgoo.com) A few months after launching its first sedan model Peri, Chinese carmaker Great Wall Motor has revealed that its second sedan Florid will roll off line on October 6 and debut at the Guangzhou auto show in November, said xinhuanet.com today.

The GW Florid is a 5-door compact sedan with two rows of seats, and the rear row has foldaway seats which can give the interior a feel of larger space. The exterior of this dynamic sedan looks gorgeous and splendid like its name. This new GW sedan will be priced at 60,000 yuan ($8,780) to 80,000 yuan when it goes on sale later this year.

The Florid, as the second small car after Peri from Great Wall Motr, is powered by the 1.3L VVT gasoline engine which meets the Euro IV standards. Later Florid models will have the stocking 1.5 gasoline engine and an optional 1.2 diesel engine, perhaps the first for any small Chinese car.

Great Wall Motor, China's largest maker and exporter of pickups and SUVs, has made its foray into the small-car segment. The company launched its first sedan Peri in March this year. The compact Florid is set to become the most 'sporty' of the Great Wall Motor's lineup.

Florid...Simply Horrible Copy!

You are right SadRabbit. But as you can see Hover and its SUV sales are down recently. It looks like a while back Great Wall saw the handwriting on the wall, and was desperate to turn out more mainstream type passenger cars like the Florid and Peri.
Will the copies hurt their image? Probably. But it's obvious that they were willing to take the gamble.

hover sale by my opinion is going very well, also they offer plenty of new stuff, like new mask, some interior changes, couple of diesel engines 2.5 and 2.8 also a new gasoline engine

normaly every year hover is sold to 50-55000 units, so i think that this year also hover will have the good result, guangzhou honda crv is a hit on the market, always that car was having very good seling results

as i speak with some managers from gwm they are satisfied how selling of peri and cowry is going, especally because prices of those cars are little bit higher then many other cars in the same class on chinese market, also export is going very well and gwm open plenty of new SKD plants and productions

for florid, i also think that it's look very much like toyota models...but plenty of cars on chinese market look like that, if the customers on the market will accept that car, i am sure that he will have very good result, if they offer 2-3engines for it...i am sure in that

Great Wall Florid - November launch.

October 8th, 2008 - Sales of Great Walls first super mini, the Perri dont appear to be going too great so far (China Car Times has seen 3 on the roads so far) but that does not appear to have deterred Great Wall from achieving success in the super mini segment as well truck and SUV segments. Their latest offering, the Florid, is expected to be launched in November this year, the Florid will come with the choice of 1.3 or 1.5l engines which were developed by Great Wall themselves.

The Florid will not be a bargain bin super mini, but appears to be aiming for the upper mid range of the small car segment. The Flord will come packed with goodies that the Peri didnt get, such as automatic air conditioner, LED lights, remote smart key, DVD player, and GPS, and then the usual standard equipment such as ABS and EBD. Sadly, it seems the Florid will be limited to a 5speed manual to start with, which will leave the Florid floundering until an autobox is introduced!The 1.3l engine is able to produce 65kw at 3900rpm to 4900rpm, the 1.5l engine will be of DOHC variety, producing 77kw. Reports say the 1.5l engine will be lighter, and faster than 1.3l making the Florid a much more interesting car. SaSad

at the test they put in it 12,6 liters and pass 202.5 km, avarge fuel consuption is 6.2 liters

if we look at all car have a good price, good driving skills and by my opinion very low fuel consuption for the engine which have 65 kw, anyway this result from 0-100 could be better and i hope that gwm will install new 1.5 engine with 77 kw

The GW Florid unveiled lately won a big order of 445 units by Hebei Public Security Division. my florid is black.untill now i have maked 800 km and im very satisfied with the quality.its a pleasure to drive it every day.it has a good start and a good braking

yesterday i had chance to drive florid models, with 1.3 and 1.5 engines, they are going very good, very comfortable and stable, also with 1.5 engine i drive it on test poligon over 140 without a problem, this a "pink" edition for chinese girls,hahah :thumb:

i am wondering for what you need engine code scanner??? i have great wall vehciles for 4 years and we use gwm original scanner maybe couple of time in whole year, usually we use it to erase airbag faliure sign when battery is empty and we use it some time for acutiation test, to erase check engine lamp, usually this happen when we put LPG sistem on vehicles,all other for now we didn't have any serius use of this scanner, so i think that you will save a lot of money if after warranty you simply visit your dealer

also now when you vehcile is new you shoudn't bothering about problems and thinking how to do a service on your own...firsty you shoud enjoy your new car for which i think that you will not have any problems, also it's always better for you to visit your dealership service because they are updated with all new modifications which they must do on the vehciles, even if they are out of warranty

Come on sadrabbit I think when you copy you have too do it better than the original. I just bought a black one the Elite edition and think it's better than the Scion. better made better body better mileage:thumb:

Without the AC on the Florid is very fuel efficient if driven below 80 km.

Dearler can't find anything external, or the easy stuff. But there may be no other choice but to unbolt the bell housing to access the release bearing/fork assembly.

dealer didn't found anything because this is normal sound at many great wall models, i don't know why this happend, we also have couple of vehciles with that small click and many of them now have over 50000 km without problem, simply it's like that

maybe your dealer should check release thrust bearing, always is a possibility that some part can be damaged and replace it and then try it

i think this is to radical move, because of smaller problem at vehicle, they just must check the sterring sistem and try to test vehicle at bumpy road, to see what make this problem and noise, also they can test the suspension at specialized services for it
