JAC C concept

Chinese automaker JAC has announced its intentions to unveil a new C-segment concept at the forthcoming Auto China 2008 show in Beijing. Claimed to introduce the evolution of the current production C-segment car, the new ‘C' concept aims to reaffirm the company's brand identity first seen in the Eagle concept from 2006.

Built to showcase the Chinese car idiom, the C concept's exterior design is characterized by soft surfaces and contrasted by sharp, tense lines. The brand identity is demonstrated in the treatment of the front bumper, which is said to be reminiscent of a Chinese theatre mask. The front end design is linked by the graphics of the headlamps and grille, while the rear end is optically linked to the body when seen in profile, evolving the typical separation seen on current Chinese cars.

The interior, though unseen in these photos, is claimed to have been designed around the same themes as the exterior, with shapes and graphics that resemble those of Chinese architecture. The seats have been designed to enhance comfort, embracing principles of ancient Chinese roof structures.

Looks like those JAC designers in Turin have been working overtime. But when are they gonna bring something other than the Rein and Refine to market?

Yes, designing nice concept cars brings a lot of attention to JAC, but getting out in the trenches and creating satisfied buyers is what's really needed now for this wishful neophyte sedan maker.

Staying awhile longer in the Hyundai tie-up would have helped them do that nicely.

The JAC B926 concept gets some attention in Germany and the US. I read about it at Vince Burlappīs Hollywood Extra, where he mentioned that Chrysler wouldnīt be in such a trouble, if they had this car instead of the Sebring. And the Auto, Motor und Sport even features some Spyshots - but i wonder: was that a shot of of the final production version?! I have no clue...

Getting back to the car itself: To me, this is one classy design and the proof that Chinas car market is not only interesting, but also developes rapidly. This, and the new Roewe 550 may lead into an area of chinese automobile design which is affected by a more classic, less dramatic and less razzmatazz design.

I notice a lot of these concepts have metallic door handles and not body color door handles, obviously way more the norm these days.

JAC concept model are so nice! BTW the b18 semms to me like a Subaru, but better...

Are there plans by JAC to put the C926 Sedan-Concept into production?
This car looks absolutely stunning and very classy.
