I believe this is the old Songliao Auto company of the PLA established back in 1947. I guess I missed the intro to Polarsun in this forum.
The MPV design looks unique. I wonder if it's Polarsun's own IPR. But the pickup appears to be a Fudi-sourced body with Polarsun-designed front end. Of course the Hiace is Toyota-based with the grille work also Polarsun-designed.

I see only 1 stolen piece of IPR, the headlights on the MPV belong to Chery Eastar/Oriental Son. I actually quite like the design of the SUV, thanks for the info and photos Raul. :nod: :thumb:

From insiders I understand the quality of the Polarsun models is quite good, and that they have thought well about their future plans. There seems to be also a saloon prototype, at least a prototype must exist. Anyone has a picture or drawing???
Present production is extremely low (2000 in 2005, not one produced in 2006) but there is a new factory under construction in the outskirts of Shenyang. This factory will have a production capacity of 150.000 units.

i think this is the only chinese car company with an identity. just like how bmw have the split nose grill, and jeep has the 7 horizontal grill set. No other chinese car company have an identity, finally one that could standup being special.

In my opinion, the interiors look horrible. However I am oddly attracted to the SUVs exterior styling. Sorta funky lookin'.

One would think so but I guess there are a lot of things which need to be considered. Small companies like British Noble use Ford Mondeo rear lights. Old Maserati Quattroporte had Volvo 340 rear lights (!). There are other examples too.

Don't have a photo of the saloon prototype but here are photos of a concept MPV and an SUV.

I think Polarsun (Zhongshun) is well connected in China through a man name Zhou Tianbao and is affiliated with a (design house) in the US called Century Auto. But as Laofan points out the volume is low and that's the puzzling part.

Polarsun started advertising three models presented at 2007 Shanghai Auto Show on their Internet page. Does that mean they are going on sale? Well it was about time the company refreshed their offer.

The car resembles me very much to Dongfeng (Zhengzou) Yumsun:

According to my information, Yumsun is just rebadged previous generation of (Japanese) Nissan Serena. That would not be of much suprise considering Dongfeng and Nissan have joint venture in China. But I never heard of any cooperation between Nissan and Polarsun nor between two above mentioned Chinese companies.

So, does anybody know if this is indeed same vehicles with two different logos and names?

A clone of the Mazda Premacy and Honda Jazz/Fit! Polarsun is definitely not my favourite Chinese car manufacturer.

But in defense of polarsun, I think its good that a small auto manufacturer isnt all "ISUZU RIPOFF" or "REBADGED MAZDA/ROVER" because like I mentioned about the defunct Wanfeng, it is more possibility for smaller enterpises. Somebody recommended that I contact Polarsun for there mpv wagon/hatchback since I really need a sedan car for my AUTOBOL project (Like I mentioned, Dadi can pick up the rest). Although I was not wanting a hatchback or a wagon, I am willing to sacrifice if I have to. But you have to admit they are rather nice cars.

And besides, something like lights shouldnt be an issue. I think if you see a Tata Nano with a Roewe logo is when you should be crying foul lmfao ;)

The Tata Nano top speed should be 44mph or the wheel bearings will fall to pieces, as soon as they become superheated, anyway.

If the Nano is used as a light people-mover instead of a bike or golf cart or something, it will be a winner. I think it will be a big-seller for Tata. Not just in India, either. There's other lands that it would suit for basic transportation.

One has to give credit to Zhongshun Polarsun.... They just plod along year to year, taking a little corner of each show to display their craft.
They don't make a lot of noise but just go on truckin with a fairly broad model lineup for a small maker.
Yeah there are signs of Toyota Hi-Ace/Lux, Mitsubishi and even Chery in their models but one has to admit they do make an effort at originality. I side with Danadrianrico.
Maybe they will prevail even after the other little guys disappear from the face of the map.

The MPV-C is just a rip-off of the previous Honda Fit/Jazz with a different nose.

I read a Chinese newsarticle stating that Polarsun died last autumn. According the statistics the last Polarsun is made in September 2009.

Why am I not suprised by this news?
