dragin 05-19-2006, 11:11 AM Great photos Raul.
I believe this is the old Songliao Auto company of the PLA established back in 1947. I guess I missed the intro to Polarsun in this forum.
The MPV design looks unique. I wonder if it's Polarsun's own IPR. But the pickup appears to be a Fudi-sourced body with Polarsun-designed front end. Of course the Hiace is Toyota-based with the grille work also Polarsun-designed.
I see only 1 stolen piece of IPR, the headlights on the MPV belong to Chery Eastar/Oriental Son. I actually quite like the design of the SUV, thanks for the info and photos Raul. :thumb:
erik (laofan), cmvdc 05-20-2006, 07:23 AM From insiders I understand the quality of the Polarsun models is quite good, and that they have thought well about their future plans. There seems to be also a saloon prototype, at least a prototype must exist. Anyone has a picture or drawing???
Present production is extremely low (2000 in 2005, not one produced in 2006) but there is a new factory under construction in the outskirts of Shenyang. This factory will have a production capacity of 150.000 units.
Erik. (www.chinesecars.net)
i think this is the only chinese car company with an identity. just like how bmw have the split nose grill, and jeep has the 7 horizontal grill set. No other chinese car company have an identity, finally one that could standup being special.
More pictures!

im not a big fan of Polarsun models. Do they even export outside of china? because i don't they they really are doing that great in china itself.

Yeah Ash i dont know. Here is the website though...

In my opinion, the interiors look horrible. However I am oddly attracted to the SUVs exterior styling. Sorta funky lookin'.
Well spotted Axle :thumb:
It's very expensive to design a new headlight. Chery and Polarsun must have a same supplier (?)
really i thought the cars headlights would be cheapest thing to design and manufacture:confused:
One would think so but I guess there are a lot of things which need to be considered. Small companies like British Noble use Ford Mondeo rear lights. Old Maserati Quattroporte had Volvo 340 rear lights (!). There are other examples too.
Old Maserati Quattroporte had Volvo 340 rear lights
Are you sure? Despite having the same layout these looks sort of different in their shape...

Don't have a photo of the saloon prototype but here are photos of a concept MPV and an SUV.
I think Polarsun (Zhongshun) is well connected in China through a man name Zhou Tianbao and is affiliated with a (design house) in the US called Century Auto. But as Laofan points out the volume is low and that's the puzzling part.
martin_krpan 09-11-2007, 03:58 PM Polarsun started advertising three models presented at 2007 Shanghai Auto Show on their Internet page. Does that mean they are going on sale? Well it was about time the company refreshed their offer.

martin_krpan 09-11-2007, 04:12 PM Also there is another vehicle shown on their site called MPV-A:

The car resembles me very much to Dongfeng (Zhengzou) Yumsun:
http://s2.mojalbum.com/kitajci-2-foto_4219952_10393030_10524377.jpg
According to my information, Yumsun is just rebadged previous generation of (Japanese) Nissan Serena. That would not be of much suprise considering Dongfeng and Nissan have joint venture in China. But I never heard of any cooperation between Nissan and Polarsun nor between two above mentioned Chinese companies.
So, does anybody know if this is indeed same vehicles with two different logos and names?
daewoo-chevrolet 09-13-2007, 10:44 AM A clone of the Mazda Premacy and Honda Jazz/Fit! Polarsun is definitely not my favourite Chinese car manufacturer.
Gotta love that limousine. It's so ugly that it looks cool
hello 09-13-2007, 07:27 PM WTF? what is polarsun trying to do?
cars, big suvs? limos? small compact cars
theres no specific marmet they r trying to target.
i dont see polarsun selling lots of cars and being succcessfull
thats why GWM does good, cuz they specify in specific market
martin_krpan 09-17-2007, 01:26 PM Also there is another vehicle shown on their site called MPV-A:
The more I watch at MPV-A the more it looks to me like a rebadged Baolong New Pegasus:

Is my assumption correct?
nayan 09-19-2007, 10:08 PM I agree, very very identical
doesnt that look like wuling vans too?
martin_krpan 12-05-2007, 01:55 PM Beside newest models in thier lineup (MPV-B, MPV-C and MPV-A - shown on previous page), Polarsun also produces van named Century, a SUV and pick-up.

danadrianrico 01-27-2008, 11:29 AM U gotta admit, that CENTURY van scream "3r world jd power award"
as for the suv & truck, "Hey kids, can you say Fudi???"
But in defense of polarsun, I think its good that a small auto manufacturer isnt all "ISUZU RIPOFF" or "REBADGED MAZDA/ROVER" because like I mentioned about the defunct Wanfeng, it is more possibility for smaller enterpises. Somebody recommended that I contact Polarsun for there mpv wagon/hatchback since I really need a sedan car for my AUTOBOL project (Like I mentioned, Dadi can pick up the rest). Although I was not wanting a hatchback or a wagon, I am willing to sacrifice if I have to. But you have to admit they are rather nice cars.
danadrianrico 01-27-2008, 11:33 AM And besides, something like lights shouldnt be an issue. I think if you see a Tata Nano with a Roewe logo is when you should be crying foul lmfao ;)
Rally Red Lancer GTS 01-27-2008, 01:49 PM The Tata Nano top speed should be 44mph or the wheel bearings will fall to pieces, as soon as they become superheated, anyway.
If the Nano is used as a light people-mover instead of a bike or golf cart or something, it will be a winner. I think it will be a big-seller for Tata. Not just in India, either. There's other lands that it would suit for basic transportation.
coche 03-05-2008, 12:51 PM wow i love the interior of the minivan
martin_krpan 04-20-2008, 04:02 PM MPV-C at 2008 Beijing Auto Show:

i hope polarsun cars are cheaper than the rest like geely etc since they look outdated.
the MPV-C looks ok, but that VAN is hideous
dragin 04-22-2008, 09:34 AM One has to give credit to Zhongshun Polarsun.... They just plod along year to year, taking a little corner of each show to display their craft.
They don't make a lot of noise but just go on truckin with a fairly broad model lineup for a small maker.
Yeah there are signs of Toyota Hi-Ace/Lux, Mitsubishi and even Chery in their models but one has to admit they do make an effort at originality. I side with Danadrianrico.
Maybe they will prevail even after the other little guys disappear from the face of the map.
daewoo-chevrolet 04-29-2008, 07:12 AM The MPV-C is just a rip-off of the previous Honda Fit/Jazz with a different nose.

martin_krpan 05-16-2008, 10:28 AM Specifications of Polarsun's new MPV come out.
Polarsun Motor Holdings Ltd, a Chinese auto manufacturer famous for producing commercial vehicles, also displayed its own-brand small family MPV at the 2008 Beijing auto show in April. This self-developed MPV model, named Polarsun MPV-C contemporarily inside the company, is expected to go on sale in the second half of this year, according to Polarsun insiders.
The model is a roomy family car which can seat five persons comfortably. Practical interior rather than luxurious equipment and individual outfits like MP3/MP4 Removable Storage Device and High Definition Sound Audio System satisfy modern white collars’ needs for popularity and fashion. Moreover, MPV-C is competitive with an expected price of 70,000 Yuan ($10,020).

erik (laofan), cmvdc 07-08-2010, 03:27 AM I read a Chinese newsarticle stating that Polarsun died last autumn. According the statistics the last Polarsun is made in September 2009.
martin_krpan 07-08-2010, 03:13 PM Why am I not suprised by this news?

daewoo-chevrolet 07-08-2010, 04:20 PM Indeed not very surprising after what Erik told us about the management of Polarsun... Which manufacturer will be next? Zhongxing, Shuanghuan, Huanghai (Shuguang)? And I have the feeling Gonow is doing great with the limited resources they have, some dated technologies of the old Isuzu KB.
The subforum of Polarsun could now be replaced by Jianghuai (JAC) :thumb:
