A138 sedan will go on sale in September this year, while A137 hatchback is expected to hit the market at the end of this year. They will be powered by a Mitsubishi 1299cc 4G13 engine capable of 69Kw max that meets the Euro IV emission standards and consumes less than 5.5L in 100km's drive. A137 and A138 are co-developed by Jianghuai Auto and Italian company Pininfarina. They differ only at the rear.

Jianghuai Auto to launch new A-class car in November.

September 17, 2008 - Anhui-based Jianghuai Automobile Co., Ltd. (JAC) which produce both passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles, will launch its second sedan model -- a 1.3L A-class car named “Tongyue” (literarily meaning “happy together”), reported Beijing News on September 15.

Following the launch of the first sedan Binyue, JAC showcased its first A-class car at the 2008 Beijing auto show in April. The 1.3L new model is available in a sedan version and a hatchback version, code-named A137 and A138 respectively. The new A-class car will go on sale later this year, priced below 100,000 yuan ($14,598.5).

JAC has announced its plans to release the details of A137 and A138 apart from the price at the upcoming Chengdu auto show on September 20. Named Tongyue, the A-class model will be launched to the market around November, a top JAC executive disclosed.

Autohome already published pictures of production version of A138 with 1.3l engine. Suprisingly the car has monocolured front bumper without central part in black. Will that be reserved for top models only or was that characteristic of pre-production models?
With this new bumper the car looks less attractive and agressive IMO.

Jianghuai to launch 1.3L Tongyue at Guangzhou show.

November 4, 2008 - Jianghuai Auto has recently announced that it will launch its new A-class car 1.3L Tongyue at the upcoming Guangzhou auto show later this month, said xinhuanet.com today. The 1.5L Tongyue model will be released in early 2009.

Previously codenamed Jianghuai A137 (hatchback) and Jianghuai A138 (sedan), the hatchback is officially named "Tongyue RS" and the sedan "Tongyue" now, to be priced between 59,900 yuan ($8,770) and 69,900 yuan. The sedan Tongyue (meaning "happy together" in Chinese) measures 4,155mm in length, 190mm longer than the hatchback Tongyue RS, but they have the same width and height.

The Tongyue sedan and hatchback will be powered by a Mitsubishi 1299cc 4G13 engine capable of 69Kw max that meets the Euro IV emission standards and consumes less than 5.5L in 100km's drive. The two five-speed manual models are co-developed by Jianghuai Auto and Italian company Pininfarina. They differ only at the rear.

Anhui-based Jianghuai Auto is also expected to roll out the 1.5L automatic versions of Tongyue (sedan) and Tongyue RS (hatchback), following the launch of the 1.5L Tongyue manual model early next year.

Currently the 1.3L manual models of Tongyue and Tongyue RS are available for ordering at Jianghuai's dealerships and can be picked up by customers immediately after the Guangzhou auto show by the end of this month.

What no four way hazard flasher switch? I don't see it here.
Safety demands that it be in a place where you can reach out and push it when you need it.

Otherwise, albeit small, I like it.

Hey thanks for the welcome. I think the car is deffinately worth the money. Of course can't really talk about preformance, the acceleration is kinda slow but the top speed is reasonable, i went just over 140 km/h. It's supposed to go 170 tops. Has alot of torque in first and second, can do burnouts with the front wheels hehe. The interior is made from synthetic fabric and any stains would be a p.i.t.a. to wash out so seat covers is a good option. Aircon is nice, it's really hot here now, 35+ somedays so it's nice to be cool in the car.

Im planning on changing the wheels but there isn't much space for expansion because the edge of the suspension goes over the tire, there is space for one more inch and then they would rub together.

It's great to here that you are satisfied with the car. I hope it will serve you well. But don't forget to take a good care of your ride!

Named after famous Ethiopian rivers, ABAY, AWASH and TEKEZE, Holland Car Plc, finally unveiled its most anticipated three latest model and technically advanced cars on Monday.

The new models go on sale starting from Ethiopian New Year in the local market, with prices for the products anounched during a launching event held at Sheraton Addis. As a result, the company said ABAY Executive and TEKEZE excutive would both be attached with 189,500 birr price tag, and AWASH executive tagged 279,000 birr.

With an engine displacment of 1299 cc, TEKEZE Executive uses internationaly advanced multi-point EFI (electronic fuel injection) engine technology with Electron Company ECU system.

Having the same engine technology as TEKEZE Executive, Awash Executive also has a minimum of 160(no-load) of ground clearance.

It is also equipped with an engine displacement of 1488 cc, which the compnay said "Its Emission Standard complies with Euro IV (with OBD)." Abay Executive also falls under Compact car catogory and is equiped with an engine of 1299 cc.

Both, Abay EXECUTIVE and AwashExecutive, according to the manufacturer, "can be defined as home business and Economic Cars suitable for the Ethiopian Highlands and Weather." As a result of termination of agreement with Lifan Company to the supply of spare parts, Holand Car would import spare parts for its new models from its new Chinese partner and car manufacturing company, Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Co. Ltd (JAC).

Previously, the company imported spare parts for its product from Lifan, another Chinese Auto Manufacturing company, which eventually terminated over an allaged plot to take over the company.

Lifan Auto, however, dismissed Holandcar Plc's allegations as completely baseless, and clarified that the direct reason for terminating the contract in June is that Holland Car has failed to reach the sales target set by both sides.

In 2008, the Ethiopian partner only achieved half of the orders it had promised even after it had borrowed US$100,000 from Lifan, the Chinese company said.

Tadesse Tessema, General Manager and co-founder of Holland Car Plc said the company has now scaled up its capacity to producing six cars per day.

"When experience gained, we shall be able to assemble up to ten cars per day," he said.

Previously the company was facing serious problems leading it to cut-off its production facilities due to the shortage of foreign currency in the country.

Holland Car PLC is established in 2005 and is a joint venture between the Dutch company Trento Engineering BV in share of 50 percent and the Ethiopian company Ethio-Holland PLC in Addis Ababa 50 percent.

JAC will entry the Brazilian market, to start with the Tongyue RS and Tongyue sedan as J3 and J3 Turin respectively. The J3 will arrive in March at 46 dealerships. The expectation is that at the end of next year the number of dealerships will reach 80. Both will be equipped with a 1.4 16V VVT engine with 108 hp - A flex version should arrive in 2012.
