The seventh-generation Suzuki Alto will be produced in Suzuki’s Chinese venture Changan Suzuki company in southwestern Chinese city of Chongqing by September 2009, and will be go on sale simultaneously with its global launch before October 1, said xinhuanet.com today.

As Suzuki’s all-new upgraded version that measures 3,700mm in length, the seventh-generation Alto hatchback will be powered by the Suzuki-developed 1.0-liter aluminum gasoline engine which meets Euro V emissions standards. It combines eye-catching style and easy urban mobility with great performance in high fuel efficiency and low CO2 emissions. The model can reach a top speed of up to 120km/h above.

According to executives of Suzuki China, the new Alto will be made in Changan Suzuki by September 2009 as the joint venture’s latest entry-level small car. Changan Suzki halted production of the existing Alto model back July to pave the way for the latest generation Alto due to hit the road in September 2009 in China.

Suzuki Motor showcased its seventh-generation Alto at the 2008 Paris Motor Show early last month as the world premiere of this all-new Alto model, and its Chinese-made version will be unveiled at the Shanghai auto show in April next year.

The fuel-efficient new Alto small car will be launched globally before October 1, 2009 and the China-made Alto will go on sale at the same time, to be priced between 50,000 yuan ($7,320) and 60,000 yuan.

Alto will be produced in India by Maruti Suzuki for domestic and European (probably also for some others) markets and by Changhan for China.

Love that glove compartment open like that...no click and open glove compartment, eh? Just an open hole to stuff things in to. Ya never know, might be just right. This is a great car to weather the high gas prices, if they should return again. It looks like it would be a fun car to drive.

the headlights of the production car looks so weird that it seems the same team which worked on dezire had done the final designs in this car as well

Truedat on the headlights, though, a straight-on shot of the car from the front would be useful to really see that weird headlamp design, eh?

BTW-I love the Lancer pic I'm using below. It really shows the great job of body designing Mitsu has done with this Lancer GTS. It's the cool bodykit also, that makes the car. This '08 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS design and that of the '65 Ford Mustang are my two all-time favorites, ever produced by any car maker from any period of time.

New Suzuki Alto to be made in China in September.

May 15, 2009 - Changan Suzuki said it will produce the 7th-generation Suzuki Alto small car at the joint venture's new plant in Chongqing city of southwest China in September, and the China-made new Alto will go on sale at the same time with its global launch by October, said xinhuanet.com today.

As Suzuki's all-new upgraded model that measures 3,700mm in length, the 7th-gen Alto hatchback will be powered by the Suzuki-developed 1.0-liter aluminum gasoline engine which meets Euro V emissions standards. It combines the eye-catching style and easy urban mobility with high fuel efficiency and low CO2 emissions. The model can reach a top speed of up to 120km/h above.

An executive of Suzuki China has said that the new Alto will be made in Changan Suzuki by September this year as the joint venture's latest entry-level small car. The company has stopped production of the existing Alto model to pave the way for the latest generation Alto due to hit the Chinese road by October.

Suzuki Motor unveiled the Chinese version of its 7th-generation Alto at the 2009 Shanghai auto show last month. The locally made new Alto will be priced between 50,000 yuan ($7,320) and 60,000 yuan when it reaches the Chinese market in the early autumn. Changan Suzuki aims to sell 150,000 new Alto small cars this year.

Changan Suzuki Automobile Co., a minicar joint venture between Chinese automaker Changan Auto and Japan's Suzuki Motor, is planning to build a second plant in Chongqing municipality.

This Suzuki Alto is also built at Maruti-Suzuki's plant in India. However, in India it's called Suzuki A-Star.

Just saw this yesterday on the street here in Nanning............a really nice looking little car! A little bigger than I imagined, but very pleasing to the eye overall. The huge headlamps are a little bug-eyed for me, but a small issue with the overall package. Time for me to get to a showroom and look at one in more detail I think, I'll give a more detailed impression soon!:thumb:

This European alto looks like Suzuki A-star which is available in India by Suzuki.I don't find any big difference in both cars. The Suzuki alto is really value for money car to buy.
