Roewe has the rights to use the Ssangyong design, but as far as I know there is no relationship between Jiangling and Ssangyong.
A license we didn't know about maybe?

The article mentioned above (autosina) describes the negotiations between Jiangling and Ssangyong, before the purchase of Ssangyong by SAIC. When SAIC bought the majority of Ssangyong, these negotations were broken off, but Jiangling was left with some projects including rebadged Ssangyong suv's and pickups. So these are not Roewes but Jianglings....

Yes, thanks for the clarification Laofan. I forgot about that agreement between Ssangyong and Jiangling which began in negotiations way back 6 years ago this month. Their plan of a 50-50 venture to build 25,000 units a year of the Musso and Rexton, never materialized.

But the agreement of around 2005? with VM Motori, to build common rail diesel engines, did materialize as we can see.

So the production of this Rexton-based model is legal afterall.

Now what about the production of the Rexton RX320, or Kyron (reported to be around now), at SAIC's Yizheng plant. When is that going to get off the ground?

look nice, the rear part look like peugeot or citroen models, aslo i think that this will be a good way for entering european markets, those x6 models are too old by design

Landwind shot to infamy with their Landwind X6 SUV, which rather prematurely went to Europe and was destroyed in a crash test. The crash test was carried out by ADAC, who seem to garner great pleasure in destroying Chinese made cars, the Brilliance BS6 also fell foul of ADAC. German safety standards company, TUV, retested the X6 and found that it met all European safety standards The new Landwind X8 SUV looks to be a massive design improvement on the old Isuzu Rodeo that made up the Landwind X6.

Details on the platform used, or chassis, are not currently available. Engines may possibly VM R425 2.5l diesel engines, and also a 2.5l gasoline R425DOHC engine from VM Motori.

i see the landwind live, big plus for it was italian engine VM, still need to do much on quality, especially from outside, some parts at the vehicles was putted on very bad

New Landwind X8 SUV to go on sale in late 2009.

May 4, 2009 - At the 2009 Shanghai auto show last month, Jiangling Motors displayed its new-generation Landwind X8, which is said to look like the Mitsubishi's Outlander, sina.com said today. The new Landwind X8 SUV is expected to go on sale in the second half of this year, at a price below 150,000 yuan ($22,000).

This Landwind X8 SUV is shorter, but wider and higher than its sister model X6, and has a 2,760mm wheelbase. The X8 is powered by a common-rail turbo diesel from Italy's VM Motori that develops 140HP and 350Nm of torque or a Mitshubishi sourced, 2.4-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine with 150HP. It can meet the China IV emission standard.

There have been media reports that this Landwind X8 SUV is not only inspired by the Outlander exterior, but, it's also the interior as the X8 gets the same exact dashboard styling with the deep set instrument panel featuring the two circular tube-like structures.

Landwind X8 will enter the China market during the second half of the year, and will compete with Great Wall Motor's Hover SUV. The X8 will sell for no more than 150,000 yuan, a price very competitive to Great Wall Hover's 2.4L and 2.5L diesel models.
