The cars look nice. I mean, I've never been into SUV's but the cars look ok. The question is what the quality is like inside. It's always easy to make the exterior look good.

i like it but I think the wheels should have a bigger radius for such a giant car
they look so tiney ( 15" ?? ) they should be at least 21" !

the basic models mostly based on a toyota pickup(hulix 2200, 1980s model) chassis with a localized 4Y engine, power steering, power windows, A/C.

some luxury models have airbags for driver and co-driver, while others have neither airbags nor ABS.

Correct me if I'm wrong but these Gonow models are products of the short, and long, wheelbase bodies designed by Hong Kong Polytechnic for Fudi Auto in Nanhai. Yes, it does look like Isuzu was the inspiration for them.

As far as I know the 491 QE engines (4y-derived) are made either by Mianyang Xinchen in Sichuan, or Gonow. I don't know where the frames or the special front noses are made. Maybe in Gonow's home province of Zhejiang.

Gonow does a nice job of dressing them up. But now because of fuel shortages the future of SUV's looks bleak.

This is a nice looking nose. Gonow did a good job of creating a macho bold and beefy look.

But the Isuzu-based body it's mounted on, is bought and sold by many pick-up/SUV companies, and has become:

"The body with a thousand noses".

If Gonow could move further back on the body and redesign the rest of the vehicle it would set itself apart from the crowd. The result: more sales.

Good job on the interior. For a Chinese car, i'm quite impressed with the quality, and its a major improvement over the last generation.
The outside is interesting too.

I seriously think the first "cars" to come to the US should be these types of pickups.

Every manufacturer in the US has abandoned the compact pickup segment and concentrated their efforts on full-size and mid-size. The only player is the old and dying Ford Ranger (and even Ford's next effort will be a mid-size).

The acceptance level for comfort, built quality, NVH, and style is much lower in low price trucks than in any other vehicle segment. The safety and emission requirements are also less stringent. So this is perfect as the entry point into the US market.

Give us a robust, well built, 4 door compact pickup truck, from bare-boned version to fully optioned (with all of the safety and comforts), 4 or 6 cyl, 5 spd auto or manual, 2wd or 4wd, short and long beds, and sell them from $8990 to $16990 with a long warranty and free maintenance plan, and watch them fly off the dealer lots.

that gonow truck is an isuzu copy, and the chinese gonow looks worse/inferior than the japanese original:)

yes, the bent clutch pedal look scary, do they break down easily. also are they covered under warranty or do the buyer have to pay because it comes under the wear and tear item:mad: :( :confused:

Gonow continues to turn out old Isuzu technology, powered by old Mitsubishi and Toyota engine designs, and I don't know how much longer they can get away with that.
They were said to be joining Daewoo International, and also Bertone, for the development of new models but nothing seems to have come of that so far.
No question they have spunk and a "Can do" attitude, but it's going to take more than that for them to compete in either the home, or the export market.

A Foton pickup clone and another Hiace ripoff though the front end design of that Hiace reminds me of the ones used on current Hiace sold in Japan,Asia and Middle East..

that pickup is clearly another D-Max/Wingle clone with their own nose

I know that its based on the previous gen Isuzu pickup but if you look closely the grill and front looks similar to that Foton pickup truck....

Listen all Im saying is Gonow has no plans to do anything original from what I can see. JAC, Xindadi, even ANCHI auto seems better fitted for its own Forum. And if SUV only like GONOW, hell Tianma, JLC, even Fudi (where Gonow gets supplies) is more deserving. I just think this is a wasted page.

The bodies that Fudi will manufacture, will become the vehicles of at least 10 brands. So any news on fudi, represents news, on almost 10% of the pickup export volume. I hope someone could provide Fudi future plans.
