First it was Geely that wanted to give China a taste of the luxury life on a limited budget, but now Huatai are eager to jump on the luxury brand bandwagon.

No other information regarding the pictures has been released as of yet, but we will keep you updated on this particular model.

Huatai have been moving hard on the technology side of things over the past 18 months, they have purchased VM Motori diesel engine technology, and have also acquired ex Hyundai IPR, and branding, on which they will build their cars.

Huatai are also planning to build a large engine and transmission plant in Russia.

Now, come to think of it, I think it's actually a mix of cars. There's a mix of Continental and Flying Spur in there but the roofline is something akin to an Audi A6 or something like that.

As these drawings use the old logo, we can estimate that they are more than one year old. The spelling of Huatai is also old, at the Shanghai Show they say they are named Hawtai. To me it looks more like a design students project.

I must admit that I was wrong thinking about a student's design project. It looks serious now. Is there a copyright on grilles?

This morning a Pontiac GTO parked near my home caught my eye, and I saw a close copy of the BMW double kidney grille. So If there is such a copyright law Laofan, then Pontiac should be paying BMW a penalty.
But I doubt there is.

In my opinion, the exterior looks very classy and upmarket, although it is heavily influenced by the Bentley Continental and the Chevrolet Epica.
In comparison to the exterior, the interior is a disaster! Cheap and ugly like in an old Kia!

Why do I get the feeling that Huatai's Korean neighbors from across the Yellow Sea had a hand in the design of this model? Maybe because the front end reminds me of the Ssangyong Chairman and the Hyundai Genesis.....

So what is the situation? Is it in production, or is it just one of the many concepts that will never reach the streets?

The car doesn't look bad, but I can't understand that a 1,5 liter engine would be appropriate for an apparently large car like this.

And who are Huatai? Do they have any experience manufacturing cars? Do they have a sales apparatus?

Welcome to CCF, Knutea.
Until recently Hengtong Huatai (aka Hawtai) was a no account backwater SUV assembler.
But their early tie-up with Hyundai to produce the Galloper and Santa Fe, gave them a thrust that has brought them this far. They now even have a subsidiary in Inner Mongolia that produces diesel engines, and transmissions.
So I would not be surprised to see the B11 sedan launched in the market soon. I can't say for sure but I think the Koreans have had a hand in its development.

Any idea of technical specs of this car? Is the engine a Hyundai derivative, or have they developed it themselves?

I'm not sure about the grill, but otherwise, this is one of the more interesting designs from China. Any chance an Italian master would have a hand in this?

The Huatai B11 has officially come down the production line today and will be available for sale in a matter of weeks. The B11 will go by its Chinese name of 元田 (Yuan Tian). At the beginning it will be available with a SAIC sourced 1.8T engine, the same one which can be found in the Roewe 550 and the MG6. The engine developes 160 HP.
