: Jaguar to be sold to the Chinese?

News on the TV here is that Jag may get sold to a Far Eastern or Chinese Company.

It's an Interesting thought. I think the British Gov't may block any attempts to lift and shift Jaguar but I think it would be an excellent buy for a company like SAIC. Jaguar had great engineers, a great luxury brand, and lot's of potential. With additional Chinese factory capacity and a injection of Cash to develop new Models then Jaguar could be the "ultimate" luxury car brand for China.

If I were a buyer I'd try and buy Aston and Land Rover too...

Considering the level of fit in finish found in Jags (X-Type aside), their price is befitting. And if you can find a single part of the Sonata that looks like a Jag, I'll personally retract my statement.

lol jaguar and hyundai ?

Muahahahahahahah !
how can you even compare it !

Hyundai = ugly cheap cars ( relatively ) / sometime reliable but still ugly
c'mon ! give me one model from Hyundai that looks like 2005-2006 car

maybe the Coupe or Tribeon is but its a sports car
The current elantra sucks and its interior is cheaper than some Cherys
the new Accent is acceptable but its sister Kia Rio is alot much better

I am not into SUVs so I dont know a thing about the Santafe or whatever its called

Hyundai ATOS , c'mon I am seriously positive that most chiense cars are better than this one .

Hyundai Sonata - even an old Camry or Accord still looks better , infact the Chery Eastar looks similar !

Hyundai AZERES or whatever its called , its hyundai plan to make a luxury car , Havent seen it in person to judge , but from the exterior its still looks like luxurified ( yes i know i made that up ) elantra .

Two companies expressed their interests in Jaguar so far.

Renault : Wants to sell Nissans rebadged as Jaguars.
Hyundai : Wants to sell its new high-end luxury trio rebadged as Jaguars.

The asking price is $3~4 billion, which is well beyond Chinese budget.

I'm sorry I would not like Jaguar moving out of the PAG empire, Ford have done to good a job.

I don't want any of the above messing with Jaguar they would ruin them.
If I wanted someone to buy it, it would be BMW not Renault & Hyundai.

GM : About to go bankrupt
Ford : About to go bankrupt and trying to sell Jaguar
Toyota : Got Lexus.
Renault/Nissan : Renault wanted to buy Jaguar, but has since moved onto GM takeover instead.
Honda : Not clear of their intentions.
Hyundai : Presently the most aggressive Jaguar suiter. Need the Jaguar brand for its new luxury car line up.
DCX : Got its own problems to deal with, just not as severe as GM and Ford.
BMW : Got burned($6 billion) by its previous British holdings, MG Rover. Unlikely.

First person ever to say this to me was a Ford employee, they were internally upset that they felt the sonata EF was a copy of the jag. At the time I thought they were on a different planet, but with that in mind, if you look again at the sonata you can see what they mean, especially at the back.

Hater, the RWD Hyundai coupe looks good. Is that a real prototype or a 'chop?

And I think the tiburon exterior was influenced by this concept car.

Some sources say Hyundai is developing RWD version sedan and sports car. Some spy shot, which posted by hater, has been shown on the net for a while and described as RWD. But I haven't seen the sports car spy shot yet. I guess that's just own thought of hater.

And this is the face lifted version of tiburon 2007 version

GAZ after Jaguar (http://www.guardian.co.uk/cars/story/0,,1838867,00.html)

Hyundai after Jaguar (http://observer.guardian.co.uk/business/story/0,,1837984,00.html)

From Ford's perspective, GAZ makes a better buyer than Hyundai simply because GAZ is not a real automaker and wouldn't present a threat, especially in the US market, as long as GAZ can come up with money....

One of the korean news said, Hyundai is not going after the premium brand at least not now. Actually, they were considering the premium brand like Lexus or Infiniti with the RWD car, which has the project name of BH.

But, due to the high cost demand from establishing the necessary network to the new brand, they decide to improve the brand image of Hyundai with BH. And they also want to build the basement for the premium brand by BH.

According to the news, it seems like BH's bench marking model is BMW5 series. They're currently working on new 4.5L engine, which they hope it provides a similar or better performance than BMW 4.5L engine(I doubts...). I think the sedan picture that was posted by hater is BH.
I heard it will be available 1 or 2 years later.

And in addtion to HCD8 (the hyundai concept car), AXLE is right. I found the video clip that the car was actually moving... although I thought it was another dummy for the display.

Or skip all the headache and just slap Jaguar badge on new luxury cars.

Jaguar is the reason Hyundai's inhouse brand project stopped.

Chery and other chinese automakers didn't fall for the trap. To revive a brand like Jaguar is worst than starting from zero. No to mention none of the top chinese auto makers will be ready to enter lexury segement in the next 10 years here in US.

Koreans always look for shortcuts and ways to cheat. They wasted their early days trying to imitate Honda (even their logo) and now they hope to get in lexury by buying a brand that people under 30 usually associate it with crap. Can't wait to see those dog-eating koreans to fallllllllll........

First of all, Bashing Korean donesn't make chinese look superior. And I don't know what you do mean that korean always look for shortcuts and ways to cheat???( you mean like QQ?) Dog-eating? You mean chinese don't eat the dog as well, I think they eat more kinds of things than korean. Even one of my chinese friends talked me she ate the cooked cat once!!. So, did I think it's disgusting? No, it's just their culture and the way they have lived for a long time and you can't judge with the westerner's or westerner influenced thought. Moreover, do you think how many korean eat the dog? Do you even know they have a kindergarden and a restraunt for a dog for a dog in Korea? As, I'm 32, I have never seen that thing nors my family. And the fact, it's a controversial issue in korea right now as well.

I wish this forum does not go this way as I have found the most of posters in this forum have a good manner and I have enjoyed it till now!!.

And to hater, what I wrote was not just my opinion. I got those info from the korean news(http://news.moneytoday.co.kr/view/mtview.php?no=2006072613472469782&type=2 assume you can read Korean). As you can see, they'll go after the premium brand after launching BH first where is expected as sometime in 2008. And as their strategy of preium brand is about the less expensve premium car, I don't think they'll go after Jaguar. The link you provided doesn't show any info that came from Hyundai managements. It just assumed that because Hyundai is considering about launching a new premium brand. And as you're not an owner of Hyundai motor, you have better to specify it's just your IMO, not a fact..... :D

And this is the video clip of BH in a desert somewhere in US

Superidle,

You can thank your compatriot, REAL I HATE CHINA for introducing a very anti-Korean sentiment on this board because everyone of his posts is very racist and hateful towards China and anything related to China.

Because of his intense hatred and negativity about Chinese, there is a generally negative view towards Korea and Koreans amongst Chinese in this board, all because of that little puny asshole, REAL I HATE CHINA.

Ok, as I love to talk about the car and do not want to cause any anti korean or chinese war in this forum, I'll pass this.....
