Malaysian vehicle assembler Naza Automotive is pushing for an offshore based in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

Discussions have been held between Naza group chairman SM Nasimuddin and Tamil Nadu chief minister M. Karunanidhi over options for securing land for the state government for the proposed small-car assembly plant near Chennai. The first models to roll off the line in India would probably be Sutera mini (the base machine is a right-hand-drive version of the 1.1-litre Lobo, styled by Pininfarina and produced in China by Hafei) and the 206 Bestari, a CKD version of the Peugeot 206.
