May I avert your attention to the badge on the steering wheel, it speaks for itself....

So what car is this interior really from?

It's from the Acura TSX, which is the American version of the European Honda Accord. You can see that it still says 'Acura' underneath the navigation screen.

You have a good point there Hazik, Acura do have nice interiors with clean lines and good color coordination, that would cooridinate well with the Brilliance exterior. Your approach is also quite interesting, not only did you get more people to look at your post, but you also managed to get more people to take a deeper look into Brilliance Automotive, while never directly mentioning the quality of the Acura interior.

Interesting, here are some pictures of this Zhonghua's interior:

http://img313.imageshack.us/img313/8507/china10lp.jpg
http://img313.imageshack.us/img313/535/china22ai.jpg
http://img313.imageshack.us/img313/1488/china39gu.jpg
http://img313.imageshack.us/img313/765/china48ce.jpg

From these pictures, the Brilliance Zhonghua seems to have adopted features from the TSX interior. Oddly enough certain features like the shape of the air conditioning vents, the shape of the dash in front of the driver, the shape of the steering wheel, the shape of the shifter, the overall look of the gauge cluster, and even the shape of the fuse box remind me of the 1994 Maxima I am currently driving.

Let me guess: now that you know it's an Acura interior, you don't like it. ;)

I was one of the people to see this car at 2005's Frankfurt auto-show.
As expected, the interior wasn't very impressive, but otherwise,
its a very attractive car, if they get their quality (of materials),
and any potential mechanical problems out of the way before
they test the waters in Europe, or even the US, I think we could have
the next Acura.

First shipment of 3000 Brilliance BS 2.4 cars have arrived to Hamburg port. HSO, the importer, plans to sell 15 000 cars in the first year in Europe. Guarantee is 3 years or 100 000 kilometers. Price in Germany will be about 23 000 euros. Many magazines have tested this car already. Most of the reporters have been slightly disappointed. Here's what AutoBild says (free translation):

"Excellent car for little money? Yes and no. There is space and metal around passengers but the lack of safety equipment and fit and finish are clearly a problem. Stylistic simplicity of the BS6 is on a plus side. If you're looking for well equipped basic transport then Chinese option is not necessarily a bad one. Eventhough some elements of this car feel 20 years old, the price is also clearly cheaper than any of it's competitors"

I saw it at Frankfurt IAA show too. Exterior is okay, but yes, interior is not as good as expected. Still somemore hard working Brilliance has got to do.

I would say, interior design and the choices of material should be the 1st thing to work on.

I love the new interior over the old - the fake wood was so ugly. Though I like the old fog light treatment vs the new, and the int door handle, from the pics the old looks better too.

Got pic of the 1.8T?

Like a number of Chinese cars it looks good on the outside. But the interior is very 1980's by European standards. At a lower price this may just find a few sales in the USA, but in Europe it will probably rate as one of the worst cars on the market.

That may sound harsh but let me put this in context. The worst cars on sale in the UK today have better interiors than that. The Dacia Logan and the entire Proton range looks better than that. The Logan is also incredibly cheap and probably has a higher saftey rating. It has no unique selling point and is from a completley unknown brand.

Why don't Brilliance do two things?

1 - Employ a European company like Ricardo to design the interior
2 - Buy an old brand name and re-invent it. There are plenty out there. How about Triumph, Riley, Alvis...anything has to sound better than 'Brilliance'..

Hey welcome to the forum.

As we know the BS6 safety standards were already upgraded to achieve 3 stars at Euro-Ncap (the youtube video you post is 1 star). I don't think Brilliance is on sale in America. Have fun.

Btw your name is a bit disturbing, don't you think ? or maybe I am wrong. :)

Don't worry nothing will save you from a 2500KG SUV. The benefit of the BS6 is your death will be quick and painless. If you drive a 'safer' car you might first have to suffer 30 minutes but you still won't survive ;)

Brilliance to launch BS6 Hybrid at Guangzhou Auto Show.

Brilliance Auto are set to launch their BS6 hybrid auto at the Guangzhou Auto Show later this month according to press reports.

The Briliance BS6 is a mixture of 1.8Turbo injection, and nickel hydrogen batteries, which combine together to cut fuel use by an impressive 35%. Fuel consumption on a standard Brilliance BS6 1.8T is said to between 6.2-7.6l per 100km (37 to 30mpg), so the hybrid version looks like it will save a lot of fuel! In 2009/10 Brilliance also plan to produce a plug-in hybrid for home charging.

Currently, the BS6 1.8T ‘Administration Specification’ is priced at a hefty 190,000rmb, so we doubt the hybrid version is going to be much cheaper, unless of course, its not as high as spec.
