Geely started in 1999 in the Zhejiang province in, first license was CJB, this was bought from a company named Deyang Auto Works, also named Deyang No. 95 Works (a truck manufacturer from Deyang, Sichuan province). The first Geely website gave as contact address Sichuan Geely Deyang! Soon they marked the cars with HQ (Haoqing) and JL (Geely), later followed MR (Merrie).
