Yea! 20! Here's my BMW's. 2000 540i ZSP (sport package) on the left, 1998 740il ZPP (Premium package... I think) on the right.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y164/fm_illuminatus/100_0104small-issues.jpg

A few stats for those that don't know BMW's... both cars have 4.4 liter v8's making about 282hp/324ft/lbs and the 540i is 0-60mph (0-100km) in 6 seconds, and the 740il is about 6.8. Love the cars but they eat gas... about 14/mpg (16.2 liters per 100 kilometers), and the 740il is a maintence headache.

Another pic of the cars from the back...

No, when you buy the cars used, sometimes you can't tell what package it came with, I don't know 740il package options from that year so I can't tell if the options I have are stand alones or part of a larger package. I do know the package on the 540i, because my sport seats, rims, and lowered suspension gives it away (not to mention the handling is quite different from a non ZSP).

Alpina doesn't import into the United States (although I wish they would), the only reason the 740il has L7 badging is because the previous owner was an idiot and thought it would look cool. The sad thing is that he superglued the lettering on, so even though I tried to remove it, the glue residue is still there. I may have to repaint. :(

Also, the 7's front bumper is a custom piece from vision motorsport, also put on by the previous owner.

Not too many people actually posting pics of their cars..

http://www.users.cloud9.net/~sus321/cars/CrownVic1web.jpg

My Ford Crown Victoria. It's an LX sport, with the HO engine and dual exhausts, it's lowered by two inches. It's nice, but not spectacular. The same platform underpins one of the FAW Hong-Qi cars, so that's how large it is (quite).

http://www.users.cloud9.net/~sus321/cars/128andBridge.jpg

My 1978 Fiat 128, built in 9/77, a 1.3 liter car in excellent shape. No options, this is a rare example of a factory-direct base model. At the time it was common for dealers and manufacturers to advertise a low-price car but not actually build any of them - they'd simply make everything "optional" even when it was required to be purchased. So you had to special order one of the low-cost cars if you wanted one, and that's what happened here.

http://www.users.cloud9.net/~sus321/cars/128threeJan.jpg

My old 128 4-door sedan was a deluxe, with all the options. This car had a serious rust problem. You can't see it in the pictures because it was mostly under the car. The floors were fine, but the front suspension mounts were distinctly not. Eventually the car became unsafe to drive, so I swapped it for a Mk1 VW Rabbit. The friend who took the 128 stripped and scrapped it, and some of it's parts live on in my current 128 (the 2-door).

The 1981 Volkswagen:

http://www.users.cloud9.net/~sus321/cars/Rabbit2-05.jpg

Perhaps the best car I've ever owned, though certainly not the fastest or the most glamorous. No, it did what it did and it did it very well. It ran like a perpetual motion machine, never needed any maintenance, and got nearly 50 mpg (better than a prius..). The downside was that it was a very slow car - it could do perhaps 65 mph with the pedal to the floor on a downhill decline. 1.6 liters and five gears, but only 52 bhp and 74 lbs/ft. 0-60 was somewhere in the 20-25 second range. But it ran so well, and it handled wonderfully, and the cavernous hatch could handle any load. Another downside was poor ventilation - fixed by adding those flip-out ventipanes you see in the picture. The wheels were another upgrade I did, they came from an '82 Jetta. The earlier wheels (which are still sitting in my garage) were steels that were horribly rusty and pitted, these aluminum turbines were much nicer and they were lighter, too. I sold this car in 2005 at a considerable profit.

crown victorias are good cars, but remind of Police cars

Vitesse

Yes, "civilian" Crown Vics are relatively rare. The VAST, VAST majority of Crown Victorias are used for one of two purposes - Police Cars or Taxis.

http://images14.fotki.com/v249/photos/4/49373/327423/cnpca3736-vi.jpg

You can see both uses in this photo, which features the Police Interceptor P71 and the Taxicab P72 model. The basic civilian package (P73) is for fleet use mostly - municipal cars, government issue sedans, etc. My car is the LX, the P74 with most of the Interceptor options but a very high-end interior. It's not a Mercedes S-class, but it's a nice car, and reasonably quick.

My Crown Victoria actually replaced another, similar car:

http://www.users.cloud9.net/~sus321/cars/Impala8.jpg

My old 1979 Chevrolet Impala was originally a fleet car built for Avis rent-a-car. I found old "Property of AVIS" stickers on the radio and other parts that were hidden from view. It was the opposite of the CV - it had few if any options, though it did have the base 305 (5-liter) V8. A fun car for awhile but I got bored.

Long before that I had another car on that GM "B-body" platform, a 1979 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Holiday hardtop, although it wasn't a real "hardtop." The Delta 88 was a trooper - 245,000 miles before it finally developed a stress crack in the frame.

Compared to the average Chinese mini, it's awful. Compared to an American SUV, it's really not that bad. 16/21, but it prefers the highway.

The 128, on the other hand, gets around 35 mpg, more on the highway but I don't usually use it on the highway.

I have, of course, had many cars that get better gas mileage:

You've really never heard of Opel?

They're the German arm of GM, since the 1920's. They're huge all over Europe, for some time Europe's largest maker, although I don't think they still occupy that spot.

Vauxhall is the British arm, Holden the Australian. Though they were all once unique, today they share many models (Vauxhalls are 100% Opels, Holden has several models of it's own for the locals, plus Holden makes many of the world-market Chevrolets).

The BBS-style rims on the Crown Victoria are actually stock. They were not invented for the Crown Victoria but for the Lincoln MKVII LSC, some 16 years ago. They just recycled them for use on the P74 "LX" package Crown Victoria.

I'm thinking about changing them for some of those new 16" Mustang "retro" wheels with the fake "Knock off" caps.

You have a great taste for cars :thumb: I bet that 128 is rare car in the US !

I'm interested about 1920's-1930's cars myself and of course Chinese cars. Crown Victoria is a nice looking car. I love yank tanks. My ultimate dream car would be Imperial 1974-1975 / Chrysler New Yorker 1976-1978.

Antique cars are great. I have collected a lot of old vintage car magazines. Here's my photo album which includes old ads and car museum pictures:

He'd already been the chief engineer of his own company (Röhr before he lost control of it), Adler (where he designed the fwd Trumpf and Trumpf Junior), and Mercedes-Benz (500/540K, 770K, 320, 230, etc.) by that time.

As for Saab not as common as BMW and Audi, we Saab drivers prefer it that way ;). It's more unique and individual than a German box.

Here in the UK at least, Beemers, Audis and Mercs are all over the road, if you want a euro executive but don't want to go with the crowd, then Saab, Alfa etc offer cars full of personality.

Are there many (any?) Saabs in China?

Shanghai-GM sells Saab in China but only few hundred cars a year.

1984 Light Metallic Green Volvo 240 GLE

http://img125.imageshack.us/img125/4981/volvo240gle5sj.jpg

-104 Kilowatt 2.3 litre Bosch Mechanical Fuel injection SOHC slant four cylinder engine.

-4 Speed Automatic transmission with overdrive

-Rear Wheel Drive

-One of a kind (From what I can tell) full body German Pfeba bodykit consisting of Front and back bumpers, sideskirts and lip spoiler.

-15x6.5 Inch stock GLE alloy rims

-Everything else stock, however I have a IPD VX cam installed in a project car that hasnt been touched in 2 years as well as a massive hot dog muffler that I can slap onto it, just never got around to doing it.

0-100 kph in around ten seconds. Not terribly quick but moves well for what it is, a 22 year old automatic 4 cylinder family sedan.

I've recently bought a 1993 Ford Telstar (a rebadged, slightly modified GE Mazda 626).

It's not the most fancy car in the world, but it was only $5000AUD, in very good condition, and better on fuel than my last car (which was a 1994 Ford Falcon, it got into an accident, though :().

Since I'm a student (studying accounting), and drive about 500km a week, something that's cheap to run is important, especially with $1.40 a litre fuel prices. The Telstar uses about 3/4 of the fuel of my old Falcon (one's got a 2.0L engine and a manual gearbox, the other had a 4.0L engine and an automatic transmission).

Once I take pictures, I'll post them.

Fiat Fire 16V Engine

The car is UBER stock , except for a Pioneer CD/MP3 player and 2 Sony Xplods 500Ws speakers , the front headlight is broken if you consider that a mod :P .

I was going to buy a Chery A11 just like FightingTorques one ( only it stock ) but I didn't really like the way it looks ( from the outside and the inside ) and since I am not into performance stuff , looks & designs & price comes first for me :D .

The car is made in Brazil , I've done 7000Kms so far here in Sunny Cairo , it costs arround $12,300 , 8 months of ownership ... 3 accidents .. .2 serious !

yepp thanks to 40% taxes and customs

a Toyota corolla 1.6 - basic - costs arround $25,000

so basicly this is why people here are anticipiating and liking chinese cars .

only cars not subject to custosm and taxes are localy assemblled ones .... like
the Chery A5 / A6 - Mercedes C/E/S - BMW 3/5/7 - Jeep Cherokee - Nissan Sunny - Daewoo Lanos - Daewoo Nubira - Hyundai Accent - Hyundai Verna and such ...

but they also suck cuz most of thier factories ship them with basic equipment and features except the fully loaded cherys , this is why they are a HIT here .

a Chery A5 costs less than my Fiat , altho its alot bigger , supposingly safer , with full safety and luxury equipment superior to its class.

and it even has a better waranty and a longer one than mine .

Hi fox, couldn't resist the temptation and bougt a mg zt-t 260. I had to pick it up from Lithuania and (after a boat trip to North Germany) drove it to France last Thursday during a hurricane! Nice way to get used to a new car, especially one with a Ford Musting engine! Now I have 2100 km experience and I am delighted about the way the car drove me between fallen trees, traffic jams, blocked highways etc.
There is a technical problem with putting the photos on my own website (Explorer 7), when it is solved I can show you some bigger pics.
