Post FAW Lanjian T340 pickup

New set of pickups from FAW-GM Yunnan Hongta, inspired by the Isuzu D-Max/Chevrolet Colorado and similar to the Doda K9 (perhaps they are the same vehicle as both are from Yunnan). Two different front ends are shown.

The trucks are 5.33-5.64 m long. Curb weight is 2000 kg, payload 495 kg.

Also see Projen LFJ1035 pickup.

Default Lanjian T340 pickup

Lanjian T340 pickup was unveiled last December. The truck came on the market in February, mainly in the southern/southwestern provinces of China, and some units have been exported to Laos.

Development began around 2014 when sales of the Kuncheng were declining. The "inspiration" for the front face/grille is obvious. A 2.5 liter/105 kW diesel engine powers the pickup.

Are these still under FAW and under the Jiefang brand?

@ausrutherford, this is under FAW (see the logo on the grille/steering wheel) but not under Jiefang. Lanjian is the new sub-brand here with T340 being the specific model, just like FAW Besturn B50 for example. When the NDRC code (CA1031K1RE4) was declared, it was shown as a Jiefang because in official docs MIIT recognizes "Jiefang" as the brand (牌 pai) for FAW-manufactured trucks till another one is registered.

The company refers to itself as FAW Hongta Yunnan Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd., as well as FAW-GM Hongta etc. (see English and Chinese Profile, recruitment notices). It comes under the umbrella of FAW-GM Light Duty Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd. (see http://www.faw.com/international/Gm.jsp).

In the 1980s the company was known as Yunnan Lanjian Automobile Factory, so "Lanjian" seems to be sort of an attempt at "going back to its roots".

The script identifying the manufacturer on the back of the T340 reads "Yiqi Hongta" (一汽红塔), so yes, you can call it simply FAW

But isn't the Doda a BAIC product?

On another note, I believe that from 2003, the FAW Hongta 红塔 (Red Pagoda) Automobile Co., Ltd. was jointly owned by FAW Group (51%), Yunnan Hongta Group (a tobacco-making SOE) (30%), Yunnan Light Vehicle (Group) Corporatiion (19%).
In August 2008 it became a part of FAW-GM JV for light commercial vehicles.

Where pickups are concerned, bodies can be shared. Perhaps they will have a common body supplier, or one company can stamp the bodies for the other two (the fact that all three companies are in Yunnan makes me feel there is a common thread somewhere).

Anyway, none of the three versions (the Doda K9, the FAW version with the D-Max face, and the Projen pickup) has been launched yet. I was surprised that the T340 was launched with the "Explorer" face, I was expecting the "D-Max" one. The Doda K9 (prototype maybe) was shown to the public first, but it does not have NDRC type approval yet.

The "Doda Pickup", however, is a Grand Tiger rebadge. Doda's logo is also being used on BAIC-badged Grand Tigers as seen on the one launched in Oman (mentioned in the Chinese cars abroad thread)
