Are there any small provincional car companies like these still in existance??? These MPV's fascinate me, as do the cars

for example the Lucky Star mini car for the Masses

Some facts about Dongfanghong cars:
http://www.carnewschina.com/2012/05/04/history-the-dongfanghong-cars-from-china/
http://www.carnewschina.com/2012/05...anghong-yituo-cars-copies-of-the-fso-polonez/

Dongfanghong is a famous Chinese maker of tractors, trucks and construction equipment, their history goes back all the way to the day the Communist Party came to power. The early Dongfanghong (东方红) tractors were used extensively by the Chinese state for propaganda posters and books.

But there is a less well-known chapter in Dongfanghong’s history, for a short period of time in the early 1990′s they made cars as well. Several types of small sedans and wagons were sold under the ‘Yituo’ and ‘Dongfanghong’-brands from 1991 until 1995. Not many were made and the cars were almost forgotten.
very early Yituo (依托)

Glad you remember me lol. As per your question, I was. But only Nissans and Jeeps from Usa. Bolivia has since raised the tarifs on imports, and I had to give up last year. So, there is a bit of me who would like to learr from one of these provincional automakers. The question is if they exist....

Oh yeah, and what ever happened to Lushan???

Hello ilovechina, in my books (see http://www.chinesecars.net/category/catalogue/history-documents) you will find hundreds of Chinese makes, like in my catalogue (http://www.chinesecars.net/content/catalogue-present-chinese-motor-car-production), and I am preparing a new book about all these minicars of the 1990s, full of unknown makes and pictures (like I made the pictures of the Yemingzhu and the Hualiu here above). This new book is named "“Made in China, the lost small cars of the 1990′s” ".

You're gonna have ta get the answers ta those highlighted, emboldened areas above from someone on here who knows the answers to them. Good ta hear from you, though. Did the Nissan cube sell at all in Bolivia, or does it still? I like that boxy, funky car.

Lmao, Nissan Cube. I think I saw one of those overseas. Bolivians like MPV's, but Ipsums and Chariots. There are even more Subaru Domingo's than Cube's. Nissan sells lots of trucks, but things have gone downhill since Dongfeng Nissan began selling in Bolivia. They were brought over to satisfy the Nissan demand and kill the grey market. It was just a matter of time.

So, Lushan went under?? Sorry Eric, I have to ask since I don't have your manual.
