Bringing Sexy Back?
http://www.dancewithshadows.com/auto...-frankfurt.jpg Well thats what she would say . . . http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_IFl_v4A8Ye.../dame-edna.jpg Thats right!!!! My favourite 9-5 may be back on the streets! Well the steets of China that is! You see the OG 9-5 (also known as the Dame Edna 9-5 for obvious reasons) is now heading out of production. The SportEstate is still going, the Sedan finished in July. The tooling has to go somewhere, BAIC are going to buy a stake in Saab's new owner and Saab want to increase their presence in China and introduce a competitive car at a lower price than the 9-3. The secret is to build the outgoing 9-5 in China! The car will have all the features as it does now, it will get a new model number 9 something as the 9-5 name is taken by the new 9-5. The new car might be named 9-2 as it will be cheaper than the 9-3 but its not physically small enough to call 9-1 because Saab are saving that for their coming soon hatch. Id say this car is going to give the Chinese ALOT of bang for their buck! With the following features as standard! For less than the 9-3! Any one else turned on right now?
http://images.passionperformance.ca/...9_Saab_9-5.jpg I dont often say this about white cars but that is pretty swish. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi..._9-5_front.jpg And to confirm that the days of the old generation 9-5 being the conservative top of Saabs range is over than check this out: http://www.trollhattansaab.net/wp-co...748a77ff_o.jpg |
Re: Saab in China
Old Generation 9-5 may soon be built in China but it wont be a Saab :-(
Thats right, as more news comes to light and the speculation winds down it is now becoming known that BAIC's interests in ownership of Koenigsegg Group are getting deeper and in some peoples opinions darker. It became obvious that BAIC were sniffing around looking for away to get into GM's technology because they really wanted Opel, and now since that deal fell over they want our dear Saab. Saab has finally shown the old generation 9-5 where the door is and is introducing a smart new Sedan for the 2010 model year followed by the SportEstate (SportCombi in some markets) the following year. The old 9-5 tooling has to go somewhere right? Either that or an old warehouse in Sweden or something, why not send it to China? Make some money out of it? SURE! That tooling has surely paid for itself by now so anything Saab make from BAIC using the tooling will be all profit. BAIC get an extremly safe well proven car fast to production and Saab make some much needed cash to spend on its upcoming 9-4x, 9-5 SportEstate and NextGeneration 9-3 Family. Its WIN WIN! There have been recent talks around Saab discussion websites that BAIC's latest move in the Saab deal is to attempt to secure the tooling for the current Saab 9-3 when it comes offline in about half a decade from now. It has been reported that the old generation 9-5 will recieve a new body design and probably a minimal design change on the interior and will bear the BAIC badge. It will not be affiliated to Saab's operations in China. |
Re: Saab in China
A BAIC 9-5? Your kidding, right? And the 9-3?
Dear God, what is this world coming to? And I thought you would like this. There is a racing game I an going to purchase soon and the sole Saab model is a 2008 9-3 Turbo X. |
Re: Saab in China
A game with a Turbo X on it! Jesus must have created that game with his bare hands! (Was always a wise fellow). I will have to have a go at that game when youve got it.

Re: Saab in China
Thank you Rally Red Lancer GTS, it certainly will be a great source of information. Although it is not intended as a global news website for Saab like saabsunited.com is, my website is more for the owners and enthusiasts to provide them with updated information on new and used Saab models. I also intend on setting up forums as well. I will post updates here on China Car Forums so you know whats happening.

Hey, nzsaab, I just came upon another little design detail that's cool about the new 2010 Saab 9-5 Aero. Check out the wheel hubcenters. There's the tiny blue and red Saab colors in there. Only really small, so it doesn't deter from the overall look of silver-ish-ness that really looks hot to trot on this car, might I add. To say I wasn't interested in this car would be oh-so-naughty. |
