Hanteng Auto X7 SUV
 

Production of a new 2.0 L SUV, yet unnamed, began on December 6, 2015 in Shangrao, Jiangxi. The event occurred without much fanfare and we are only hearing of it now.

The manufacturer is Jiangxi Hanteng Automobile Co., Ltd (汉腾汽车), established in 2013 as Jiangxi Lantu Automobile Co., Ltd (蓝途汽车 "Landtourer"). The company has been founded by the Tech-New Group (铁牛集团 Tieniu) of Mr. Ying Jianren, that is also the controlling shareholder of Zotye Holding Group.

Official presentation of the company and its first products -- a conventional SUV and a PHEV version. A cutaway mock-up was displayed offering a view of the interior. Some information was provided on an upcoming family of new engines developed in association with Mahle, and a glimpse of the company's plans for the future.

The names of the the SUV and PHEV have not been officially revealed yet. Initially the SUV will sport a 2.0 L turbocharged engine (272 PS, torque 400 Nm). (See update on 05-12-2016)

The Hanteng SUV has received NDRC approval (GXQ6460).

Update: Contradicting what was published 3 days ago, it has emerged that the SUV will be powered by two existing engines (presumably till their in-house engines come into play) which are the 1.5 L turbo 15S4G and the 2.0 L turbo 4G63S4T. These two engines can be found powering its sister company's equivalent SUV, the T600, as well as a host of other vehicles on the market.

Besides the two engines mentioned in the last post above, a version will be offered with a 1.8 L turbo engine (TN4G18T*) sourced from Tech-New group's own manufacturing company, Ruizhan Tongling Technologies.

In the absence of detailed specifications (suspension, driven wheels), nothing can be stated definitively, but given that its wheelbase is 2810 mm and front/rear track 1611/1612 mm, it seems to be remarkably similar to that of the Zotye T600 (WB 2807 mm; front/rear track exactly same). Front/rear axle weight distribution is 52:48 for both vehicles.

One may draw one's own conclusions.
