New Zamyad Padra (exhibited)

At the ongoing 3rd Tehran Auto Show (2019), Zamyad, the commercial vehicle maker belonging to Saipa Group, showed a new version of its Padra pickup, with the single-row cabin from a Foday Lion F16 married to the existing chassis and bed (the current version too is built using an older Foday cabin). The quality of the exhibited truck is reported as terrible, implying the vehicle must have been put together in a hurry for display. There is no surety however that this model will go into production any time soon (or ever).

XPeng acquires Foday

Zhaoqing Xiaopeng New Energy Investment Co., Ltd., a Xiaopeng Automobile group subsidiary, has acquired 100% of Guangdong Foday Automobile Co., Ltd. Recall that Xpeng has established its own factory in Zhaoqing, Guangdong pr., and media has drawn the obvious conclusion that this acquisition has taken place in order to get hold of a production license for this unit.

Note that following the Identy X and G3, Xpeng has obtained type approval for the P7 under Haima Car's ["HMA"] license. This type approval is for a category "7" vehicle. Foday, which was registered with NDRC as a refit factory till some years ago, does not qualify for category "7", though it can manufacture category "6" vehicles under its "NHQ" license.

Zamyad Padra Plus Z24PA+ (Iran)

The Padra Plus, partially based on the Foday Lion F16 single cabin pickup (see post #85), has gone on sale in Iran. It is still powered by Nissan's Z24 2.4L petrol engine, though updated to meet currently mandated local emission norms. Prices were announced in May after clearance from the relevant authorities.

Zamyad also had plans to launch the Landfort SUV with the name "Tivan".

Zamyad Zagros, proposed pickup, may enter trial production soon. Given the obvious origins, it is by and large the same vehicle as the Maxmotor Kalut (see above) already sold in Iran; however there are differences in powertrain (2.4L naturally aspirated, 136 hp, 200 Nm, 5-speed manual for the Zagros versus 2.4L turbocharged, 215 hp, 320 Nm, 6-speed manual or automatic for the Kalut).

Interesting to see a Foday SUV sporting an old discontinued Jianghuai Auto (JAC) logo. Is that a move taken by the Iran assembler/distributor, or did Foday change the logo, after it was acquired by XPeng?
An old now extinct pickup/SUV maker named Dadi, once used this logo as well. It resembles Chinese character for large or great.
