Re: Geely Binyue SUV (SX11)

The exterior of the SX11 is made in the corporate style of the Chinese brand, for which Peter Horbury, who previously worked in Volvo, is responsible. The length of the ІГМ (sic) is 4,330 mm, the width is 1,800 mm, the height is 1,609 mm, the wheelbase is 2,600 mm in size. The cross Volvo XC40 is larger: 4 425/1 863/1 910 mm, the distance between the axles is 2,702 mm.

Patent Office of China registered design of future crossover of the company Geely, which now is known only by its factory index SX11. The appearance and the interior of the model are the work of former chief designer at Volvo - Peter Horbury, who now works for Geely.

However, this is not a surprise because the Chinese corporation owns Volvo. Moreover, future SUV-model is built on a completely new platform developed by both carmakers.

The design of the product that has received a preliminary index SX11, was developed under the leadership of Peter Horbury, previously worked at Volvo. Crossover got a brand new grille, led optics, a panoramic sunroof and a rear spoiler. The dimensions of the vehicle are 4330х1800х1609 millimeters in length in wheelbase of 2.6 meters.

All seem to point to the same man and his team.

Re: Geely Binyue SUV (SX11)

Perhaps someone can explain the unconventional controls and indicators on the PHEV console, seen in #19.
I have not seen indicators like "comfort", and "save" before this.
Since the transmission is likely a CVT type, without gears, what is the "L" selector position? Is it related to regenerative braking?

On the exterior, I like the trim used to neatly separate the two body colors.

Re: Geely Binyue SUV (SX11)

The transmission is a 7-speed DCT.

L is for holding low gear ratios, like offered in many other automatics, for tricky terrain, ascent/descent, or under load (more torque, less power).

"Save" is to save the charge accumulated in the battery for driving in EV-only mode later (say when you will be entering restricted zones of cities or accessing EV-only lanes). This charge can be built up either through regeneration (deceleration/braking) or running the ICE. [You can find more on the SAVE function in this Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV forum]

Re: Geely Binyue SUV (SX11)

Thank you, D Mitra. I wrongly assumed that this Binyue model had a CVT transmission.
Now I will pay more attention to what type transmissions Geely is using in its HEVs.
In any case it seems they are getting their money's worth from the recent purchase of Australian Drivetrain Systems International Holding Co. and the DCTs that it produced.

Perhaps in the future someone would like to post something about what type of transmissions these newly appearing HEVs, and PHEVs are being equipped with nowadays.
