Zotye expanding lineup

Quote:
October 17, 2008 - Zotye Holding Group, a small startup automaker in China, will launch Fiat-based cars Multipla, Lybra next month and in early 2009 respectively, said Beijing Times today. The company has decided to launch four sedan platforms, including the previous Jiangnan Alto, Zotye 2008 and Zotye 5008.

The four platforms will produce cars of the A-series, Z-series, L-series and M-series. The A-series is based on the Jiangnan Alto that Zotyoe acquired in 2007, the Z series includes the small-car Zotye 2008 and crossover Zotye 2008 which now are available in the market, and the L-series and M-series are derived from Fiat's Lybra and Multipla sedans whose production line and technology have been bought by Zotye.

The Multipla made by Zotye is an all-new crossover model that combines the sedan's comfort with MPV spaciousness and SUV sportiness, and will be launched next month. The Lybra car will be positioned as a mid- to high-end sedan and will go on sale in 2009. The Fiat-born vehicles will be produced under a new brand and will be sold in Chinese and export markets.

Wu Motuo, Zotye Holding CEO, said that the company plans to build 11 Fiat-based models. Production of the Lybra stopped in Italy in July 2005, and then Zotye Holding bought from Fiat Auto the assembly line tooling and intellectual-property rights for the Lancia Lybra mid-sized sedan, and by 2008 the company may have bought about ten other Fiat models, including Multipla, to reach its output target of 100,000 vehicles.

Zotye Holding was formed in 1992 in Yongkang City, Zhejiang province, as an automotive sheet metal supplier and entered the auto industry as of 2006. It launched its new Zotye 5008 model at the Chengdu auto show last month, and is expanding its main manufacturing base in Changsha city of Hunan province, where the Zotye Multipla is to roll off line later this month.

The company sold 31,577 units of its small car Zotye 2008 during 2007. The automaker aims to sell 500,000 vehicles a year with sales revenue of 50 billion yuan ($7.3 billion) by 2012.

On their global webpage:
http://www.zotyeglobal.com/products-d.htm

beside existing and already announced products (2008, 5008, Multipla and Lybra) Zotye is also exibiting pictures of some other future models.

First one is D-series, which is essentially a rebadged Fiat Doblo:

FIAT also contributed S SERIES - Fiat Strada (pick-up version of Palio/Siena):

Definitely the most promising and attractive is Z SERIES SUV:

Looking great . Styling reminds me of Infinity's SUVs. I'm guessing this car lives only on drawing tables at the moment.

Zotye to assemble vehicles in Lanka.

Quote:
December 01, 2008 - United Motors Lanka Plc (UML) has been awarded the approval for a vehicle assembly plant from a leading Chinese vehicle manufacturer/ exporter Zotye.

The company is now in the process of awaiting domestic institution approvals to go ahead with the project, UML Chief Executive Officer Shanaka Yatawara told Daily News Business.

Zotye, one of the leading small car and medium sized jeep manufactures and exporters in China, have principally given the approval for the assembly plant in Sri Lanka.

Speaking to Daily News Business he said once the required approvals are granted from domestic institutions such as the Register of Motor Vehicles, the Ministry of Industrial Development, and other local Government bodies, they will decide the nature of the assembly plant which will specially target the domestic market in the initial stages.

This approval is a conditional long term business venture and has not decided the nature of the plant because of the pending government approvals due to manifold reasons, Yatawara said.

"Zotye is an up and coming Chinese automaker but it certainly is a forward looking company keeping up with current trends in the auto market," he said.

After having gone green earlier this year with a highway-speed electric SUV, this month Zotye has closed a co-branding agreement with Fiat, the Italian automaker.

Fiat Multipla and Lancia Lybra will go under the Zotye branding and it is rumored that more of the Fiat models might be bought in the near future by the Chinese brand.

Zotye seems thus to be quite aggressively trying to build its brand.

Investing in designs and corporate image on Zotye, which might just be another rising from nowhere to become an up and coming Chinese auto brand. Things took a decisive turn in 1989, when it was selected as the first government venture for peopelisation. In May that year, United Motors Lanka Limited was born.

The company was listed with the Colombo Stock Exchange a few months later. The company has since grown in strength and reputation, guided by the vision to be the best company in the country through diversification.

Their corporate strategy has proved highly successful. UML maintained the leadership position by consistently providing high quality products, services and transport solutions to a discerning clientele.

Today, UML PLC is a major player in Sri Lanka's motor trade. UML has a long history and its roots can be traced back to United Motors Limited, which was formed in 1945. The business was acquired by the Government in 1972. It emerged as the market leader for Japanese vehicle imports in 1988, having entered into a distributor agreement with Mitsubishi Motors Corporation three years earlier.

Martin, have you seen the drawing of a future Lybra? I think that car is the most interesting of the whole range.

This is future Lybra? Looking great!
But only people at Zotye know when will it reach Chinese roads.

First they have to start producing and selling 'old' Lybra and Multipla. Only then can they start dreaming

MJK launches Nomad II Chinese cars in Qatar

December 28, 2009
Doha-based MJK Cars has launched Chinese automaker Zotye's Nomad II cars in Qatar.

The Qatar launch of Nomad II followed their 'successful' introduction in Middle East and North Africa markets including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Algeria and Sudan.

Nomad II cars are also being sold in Russia and many Latin American countries.

The cars were launched at a ceremony held at Sharq Village and attended among other dignitaries by Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani, Chinese Ambassador Yue Xiaoyong and MJK Cars and Agencies chairman Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad bin Abdullah al-Thani.

Zotye Auto and MJK Cars executives said the Nomad II cars are "attractive with the most contemporary design". They are "spacious and economical and ideal family" cars. They have been "competitively priced," starting from QR49,000, they said.

The cars come in both manual and automatic transmissions in a wide range of "attractive colours" at MJK Cars showroom near the Qatar Equestrian club in Rayyan.

MJK Cars said they have worked out 'attractive deals' for companies and institutions, who are interested in purchasing Nomad II cars. Zotye's first produced cars in 2006, when the company clocked a sales figure of 10,000 units.

Zotye Auto is part of Zotye Holding Group, a large-size Chinese enterprise that is engaged in the R&D and manufacture of complete vehicles, key parts of engine and gearbox as its core business and development orientation.

The company operates two complete vehicle production bases in Zhejiang and Hunan and two complete vehicle brands of Zotye Auto and 'Jiangnan Alto'.

It has four technology production lines of punching, welding, coating and assembly and a complete vehicle dynamic performance test line.

China, an emerging economic super power, is now home to many world scale production facilities of carmakers. China is also fast emerging as the world's largest car market, beating the US.

Default Zotye Auto mulls listing for new-energy auto business

China SUV maker Zotye Auto is preparing for a listing for its new-energy vehicle business after raising 720 million yuan ($105 million) last August from 11 domestic companies and ventures, Aftermarket Business reported earlier this week.
Wu Jianzhong, chairman of Zhejiang province-based Zotye Holding Group, recently said the company is planning to launch an initial public offering (IPO) as early as 2011, a move expected to raise several billion yuan. The company is awaiting regulatory approval for the IPO, sources said.
As one of the first few Chinese automakers approved by the government to make new-energy vehicles, Zotye is likely to seek a separate overseas listing for EV (electric vehicle) business, allowing the company to potentially benefit simultaneously from two financing channels, at home and abroad.
The company is speeding up construction of plants for producing transmissions, engines and complete vehicles in Yiyang, Hunan province, and accelerating the commercialization of its new-energy vehicles, though all these projects require a lot of money, Wu said.
Zotye Auto has developing all-electric vehicles since 2006, and rolled out the first mass-produced electric vehicle, the Zotye 2008 EV, in Hangzhou city, making Zotye China's first automaker who has launched mass-produced electric vehicles in the market.

That's right, dragin, and now here's brand new word from Zotye about an all-electric SUV from them now to be available in the U.S. It will sell for $29,995.

http://green.autoblog.com/2010/07/23...tric-suv-by-y/

Before we get to the gist of the latest development regarding the Zotye electric SUV, a little background info will bring you up to speed. China's Zotye Holding Group produces the electric SUV pictured above. The company claims that its SUV has a range of up to 250 miles and can reach a top speed of 70 miles per hour. The vehicle carries a 3-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and the lithium-ion battery pack is warranted for an unheard of 185,000 miles. This highway-legal SUV is expected to sticker at the shockingly low price of $29,995 and will be coming to the U.S. by year's end. Sound unbelievable? Let's hope it's all true, but, well, we certainly have our doubts.

However, Bob Rohrman Auto Group, of Lafeyette, IN. believes that the Zotye SUV is much more than vaporware and has signed on to sell the electric SUV when it hits our shores. Rohrman Auto has selected 10 of its 36 dealerships to receive the electric SUV and expects to move a minimum of 200 of the EVs out the doors each month. The vehicles will be imported by Green Automotive and distributed to the Rohrman Auto dealerships located in Indiana and Illinois. In addition, EV Car Co. will also sell the Zotye SUV at its 14 Texas-based dealerships. Whether you believe the claims made by Zotye or remain skeptical as we do, it's seems likely that this electric SUV will board a ship headed for the U.S. soon.

Humm, if one could get the Barack Obama $7,500 Fed. tax rebate that would lower the price of this pup to only $22,495, what we paid for our 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS in Rally Red paint. A range of even 200 miles would be great, but 250 miles, if possible, would be even better. Wonder about charging installation equipment available to support re-charging.

Wow, I don't even mind the run-a-the-mill styling. Twould be a different kind of styling than our Lancer GTS and of course a much different kind of rig, but, this old late 90's style Toyota RAV4/Kia Sportage look ain't half bad. Kia's new 2011 Sportage styling blows this away, yes, but I'm liking the all-electric platform thing a lot, car nuts.

I'm unofficially officially interested in this new all-electric SUV. Add it to the growing list of rigs I'll probably never get but am interested in somewhat. Need some real-life riding and driving reports from those owners who care to share and from automotive reporters.
