The original design was already available in Europe from 1997 - 2006 as the first generation Daihatsu Terios (Japan: Daihatsu Terios/Toyota Cami).

It think it's a bit too narrow for the USA.

Another nice thing to think about with this new Zotye all-electric SUV is the clearance would work better with NE Nevada's snowscapes.

Wow, it is nather narrow. Looks almost ta be a tip over hazard on the sometimes frenetic streets of the U.S. This one will need intense scrutiny. Love ta see it's NHTSA crash-test results. Spose a person could dig those up pretty easily.

Upon further digital inspection this pup looks fine for width, as far as NA driving. It's firmly set on my radar screen and it would take a trip to Texas to rustle me up one of these tigers. Need more driving reflections from real world drivers before I would even think about laying down yankee greenbacks for one.

If Zotye isn't blowing smoke up our arses about range this would be a nice score. 250 miles per charge? No kiddin'!

Zotye to launch sedan below $2,900

Zotye Holding Group, an auto manufacturer in southeastern China's Zhejiang province, is set to launch a sedan below 20,000 yuan ($2,900) to the domestic market, Media reported Monday.

The sedan based on the Jiangnan Alto that Zotyoe acquired in 2007, which will be put on sale for merely 18,880 yuan, is the first car in China to be priced under 20,000 yuan.

Alto, Lifan, Chery QQ and Geely used to be involved in several fierce price wars, but none of them was sold at less than 20,000 yuan.

Zotye Holding Group is a large-size enterprise that is engaged in the research, development and manufacture of automotive vehicles, and automotive drive-train components.

The company has two complete vehicle production bases in Zhejiang and Hunan, and two vehicle brands of Zoyte Auto and Jiangnan Alto.

In 2006, the first Zotye 2008 vehicle was officially launched in the market, and the annual sales that year reached 10,000 cars.

In 2007, the Company restructured Jiangnan Alto, which resulted in the Company achieving annual sales of about 40,000 cars.

Zotye Holding Group exports its vehicles to more than 50 countries and regions covering the Middle East, Western Asia, Russia, Latin America and, recently, North America.

Default Zotye acquires TAC Motors (BR)

Zotye has acquired Brazilian indigenous utility vehicle manufacturer TAC Motors, whose sole product is the quirky Stark that is powered by a 2.3L Fiat turbodiesel. Future plans include production of a Stark pickup variant as well as local assembly of the Zotye T200.

The deal with Zotye did not work out for niche jeep-maker TAC, which still remains an independent company.

As reported in AUTOMOTIVE BUSINESS Brazil, on the launch of the 2018 model Stark:
Quote:
At the end of 2015 the Chinese Zotye announced the purchase of TAC for $ 190 million, with the launch of other products, but the deal was never implemented, remained in the water bath in the following years, with sporadic statements that negotiations were still in progress. "Zotye had plans to settle in Brazil and TAC was one of the options. But then it gave up, with the crisis in the Brazilian market," explained Braga. (translated)
