I suppose it is only possible to produce the car in China if SAIC can obtain the complete line from Ssanyong, when Ssanyong will be completely finished in Korea. I suppose that is the SAIC option and the reason why they keep continuing developing the model.

thanks for the reply erik. since i havent followed Ssangyong lately, i assume when you say "completely finished" you mean it is going to be completely bankrupt?

The Roewe limo first appeared on CCT last month, but information on the car has been slim on the ground, until now! As mentioned above, the engines are a 3.2 and a smaller 2.8l model, there are also rumors of a 5.0L engine making its way into the future 850. The transmission is a 7 speed semi auto, probably from Mercedes via the Mercedes-Ssangyong tie up.

nzsaab, It was supposed to be the first vehicle released by Ssangyong into the New Zealand market but Mercedes, upon which much of the Chairman's technology and engineering comes from, decided it was not in the best interests of Ssangyong and decided that the hideous looking Musso would be released. Ssangyong at that time I think was either controlled or in a joint venture with Daimler at that time.

KiwiGuy,

Thankyou.

Im really beginning to discover Chinese brands and some of the great cars that are produced. Recently I visited Houston Motors Nelson (Local Great Wall Dealer) to view the new utes. I WAS IMPRESSED! (However I was not impressed on safety ratings, but hey Im a sub nut so anything less than 5 star is concerning!)

I really do like this Roewe. I would kill to own a 750 in New Zealand (just think of the small talk it would create). It doesnt look like a badly made cheap Chinese car (thats what i like). It look high quality, and very english.

I WANT ONE! Are they availible in right hand drive at all?
