President's car unveiled at National Day military parade

The self-developed Hongqi HQE car by the First Automobile Works of Changchun (FAW), capital of Jilin Province, is 6.4 meters long, 2.05 meters wide and 1.72 meters high, according to staff from the company.

Chinese features were evident in the design, said Guo Shijun, head of the Hongqi manufacture department of FAW.

"For instance, the radiator grille was in the shape of a Chinese folding fan, and the taillight was like an ancient palace lantern," he said.
New techniques were used in making the car.

"The noise of the engine was low, lower than nearly all the foreign and domestic engines. When the car was started, you could hardly feel the vibration," said Li Jun, director of the technical center of FAW.

For the first time bullet-proof technology was used in the Hongqi car. "We also borrowed some aerospace techniques," Guo Shijun said.

"In fact, the Hongqi HQE car is more than just a car," he said. "It represents the most advanced automobile manufacture technique, and the spirit of innovation and enterprising."

HQE on sale for 8 Million RMB

The producers of the Hong Qi state limousine that Chairman Hu used at the 2009 review of the troops is set to be produced in limited numbers for civilian use, however the price is not for the common proletariat with the price tag a staggering 8 million RMB (1.17 million USD).

The interior of the HQE state limosuine is under going some civilian restructuring, however the V12 monster engine that was designed by FAW will be the same as the Chairman’s. The V12 engine, the CA12GV model has its cylinders at a 60° which helps it boost out 300Kw of power and a maximum torque of 550Nm, it is also the worlds first car to use twin ECU’s according to Chinese media reports. Apparently the sound proofing on the inside of the car is second to none, with it being practically sound proof, outside noise is unable to penetrate the cabin.

The price tag maybe high, but FAW are bound to sell quite a few of these. More news as we get it.

Yes, with 1500 power strokes per minute, it should be virtually vibration-free.
But at what cost in fuel and emissions? Shouldn't the government be setting the example here? Chasing after a global image is folly.

FAW, owner of the Hongqi-brand, is seriously considering to bring the massive CA7600L to the market. If all goed to plan the limosine will keep the 5.985 litre 300kw V12 but will lose all armor. The CA7600L was originally meant to be made as a small series for government use only, but the car caused such a stir on the Beijing Auto Show that FAW decided some form of mass production might make sense. Debut date yet unknown but we do know the price: it will cost around 4 million yuan, that is 589.000 US dollar.
