Thank you D Mitra, I can see now the adaption of the Zhongxing body by BAIC in the Doda K9, but FAW, with this T340, seems to be on its own here, D-Max derivation not withstanding.
FAW did at one time source pickup bodies from Foday but now there's no apparent connection. And yes, I agree that over the years the development of unique faces for common Foday bodies, and others, has been a favorite practice by many Chinese SUV and pickup manufacturers. Nice discussion, can't add much. Only that the Lanjian name was continuously used by Hongta over the years, especially for their light trucks.

Recalling our discussion that took place a few posts (and few years) ago, I looked up the current corporate profile of FAW Hongta Yunnan Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd.
As of today, the company is largely owned by FAW Light Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd. (35%), China Great Wall Asset Management Co., Ltd., a state-owned AMC (31.2%), Yunnan Hehe (Group) Co., Ltd (31.2%). There are two other small shareholders. FAW Light Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd. is fully owned by China First Automobile Co., Ltd. China First Automobile Co., Ltd. replaced China FAW Group Corp. as JV partner in January 2012. General Motors (China) Investment Co. , Ltd. exited this joint venture in October 2019, at which time FAW-GM Light Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd. was renamed FAW Light Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd. Yunnan Hongta Group Co., Ltd. was replaced by Yunnan Hehe (Group) Co., Ltd. as shareholder in July 2016. Yunnan Hehe (Group) Co., Ltd. is a company established by China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd. and two of its subsidiaries. China Tobacco Yunnan Industrial Co., Ltd. is itself owned by China Tobacco, a national monopoly SOE. FAW-GM Hongta Yunnan Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd. was renamed as FAW Hongta Yunnan Automobile Manufacturing Co., Ltd. in November 2016. Yunnan Light Vehicle Group Co., Ltd., owned by the Yunnan Provincial Economic Commission, exited FAW Hongta Yunnan in January 2018. FAW Harbin Light Vehicle Co., Ltd., fully owned by FAW Light Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd., is a sister company of FAW Hongta Yunnan. |
