Re: Beijing Yinxiang SC20 SUV

From chinaautoweb
Outside the Chinese capital, BAIC (Beijing Auto) currently has vehicle production capacities in two places: Zhuzhou, Hunan, where BAIC E130/150 and Weiwang vans are made, and Chongqing, where a long product line covering various vehicle types has been under development (BAIC also plans to open vehicle plants in Zengcheng, Guangdong, and Zhenjiang, Jiangsu). The Chongqing division, called BAIC Yinxiang Automobile Ltd., is expected to launch two all-new models this year: an MPV and SUV, the test models of both having been exposed in the past few months. In this week, renderings of the upcoming SUV appeared on BAIC Yinxiang’s official website, providing a clear look at the car’s exterior.

Bearing the codename SC20, the small SUV is believed to be derived from the E series subcompact. It has a wheelbase of about 2500mm and overall length of a little over 4 meters. The back-door design is similar to that of Chery Tiggo or Toyota RAV4, on which the spare tire is mounted externally and the door is opened on the left side (hinged on the right side).

Powertrain options are to be shared with the E series, which match a 1.3 or 1.5 engine with a 5MT or 4AT.

In the official images, the mini SUV carries a logo not seen in the market and different from the one on the E series, Senova cars, or the spied prototypes. The new logo is believed to designate all future models from BAIC Yinxiang, which will, in addition to MPVs and SUVs, include small vans, pickups, and trucks,

The new BAIC car is to make its debut later this year and hit showrooms in 2014. List prices are likely to range between 50,000 and 70,000 Yuan.

Re: Beijing Yinxiang SC20 SUV

The SC20 or S20 (BJ6420BHV1A1) will get a new name Huansu S2 (幻速S2). Translates to something like "Magic Speed". This I have just learnt from the Fuel Consumption and Efficiency table published by MIIT for November. Of course, this name might again change.
