Beijing WKW has terminated all its new energy vehicle projects inland (in Qinhuangdao, Ningbo [Hybrid Kinetic JV], and Changchun) and abroad (Germany), sold off some of its parts and battery-making subsidiaries/projects and also abandoned plans to consolidate some of its other holdings (Changchun New Energy, Wuzhoulong) under Kawei. The major reasons for this are falling profits from its parts business (and the subsequent inability to fund all these projects during construction phase), defaults on overdue payments, confiscation of pledged shares, blacklisting of Wuzhoulong from receiving subsidies by the authorities for misrepresentation (in the aftermath of the subsidy cheating scam of 2015-16).

Danyang-based Jiangsu Huazi Vehicle Industry Co., Ltd. acquired the "JNQ" license from Jiangsu Kawei Automotive Industrial Group Co., Ltd. in December 2019. Kawei had been producing, of late in minute quantities, SUVs and logistics vans (6- and 5-category vehicles, but not pickups) under the "JNQ" license which had originally belonged to Zhangjiagang Jiangnan Automobile Manufacture Co., Ltd. Zhangjiagang Jiangnan Auto was a maker of Chunzhou buses and vans, which Kawei group had acquired in 2012.

Jiangsu Huazi Vehicle Industry Co., Ltd. (江苏华梓车业有限公司) is a young company founded in 2017, headed by one Zhu Chenling. Till September 2019, it was called Danyang Huazi Vehicle Industry Co., Ltd. Not much is known about this company.

According to govt. sources, Jiangsu Kawei produced a total of 26 passenger vehicles in 2019. In the first six months of this year, only 11 Kawei SUVs have been sold. The picture has remained more or less the same for the preceding few years too. I have no idea how many pickups Kawei has made or sold (if at all any) because those are clubbed with YTO Group numbers.
