The 2015 Ziyoujian, which is the Englon SC3 with a facelift, has started arriving at dealer lots.
The SC3 will continue alongside for some time though.
The SC3 itself was built on the same troublesome platform as the Ziyoujian (CK1).
I had hoped the old Ziyoujian would be abandoned and a new Ziyoujian. with an all new platform, capable of a five star crash rating, would be introduced.
Erik, while that might have been true in the past, it is certainly not so anymore: sales are chugging along at ~1,000 units a month now out of a monthly average of 42500 (2015 till June, excluding Volvo) for Geely.
Correct me if I am wrong Erik and Dmitra, but the donor of this Ziyoujian platform is the archaic Daihatsu Charade, originally (borrowed) by Geely from Tianjin Auto Industrial, who built the Xiali model on it, as far back as 1986.
Yes absolutely. The Ziyoujian evolved from the Merrie (300 and earlier) and Uliou sedans that were obviously related to the Merrie hatches, which themselves evolved from the first Haoqing(s) which borrowed the platform as well much of the exterior design from the Xiali hatch (G100 Charade). Xiali sedan influences can be clearly seen in the design of the Uliou/Merrie sedans though they were not clones.

I don't think it was ever modified by Tianjin Xiali, FAW Xiali, or Geely, to counter the atrocious record it has in crash tests, down through the years. And that's why I had hoped Geely in particular, would have swept it out of their product line-up.
