ORA R1 and Baimao (R2)

R2 to be launched with the name "Baimao" [白猫] meaning white cat. Pretty soon, we are going to see not a car lineup but either a pet shop or veritable zoo from GWM.

Perhaps Great Wall Motors wants to pay tribute to former leader Deng Xiaoping who famously quoted: "Bùguǎn hēi māo bái māo, zhuō dào lǎoshǔ jiùshì hǎo māo"*, a variation on an old Sichuan folk proverb. Deng was known to appreciate 20th century painter Chen Liantao, whose nature-themed artworks often featured cats as the subject.
