Comparing a Chery Tiggo to a Great Wall Hover is unreal. Hover is bigger, better equiped, as a diesel version...
Tiggo is a smaller 4x4.

The aussie who wrote this got the nerves. Look at the last paragraph.

When did China exercise her violence to Nepal and Mongolia ?

When was the last time he heard an aussie said " I wish to buy a Holden"

That guy is quite oblivious to the fact that China is now Australia's biggest export market , China is buying so much minerals from Australia every year, helping to prop up Australian economy and that buffoon now talks like that.

Seriously , some Aussies really need to get out more and look at the world, they ain't doing no favour for China, China is doing a favour for them by buying up their minerals and resources.

Great Wall Motors to be first Chinese auto brand in NZ.

Quote:
June 29, 2008 - Great Wall Motors is set to become the first Chinese car brand available in New Zealand, with a national dealer network due to be confirmed in time for an October launch on both sides of the Tasman.

Likely to be known in Australia and New Zealand as GWM, Great Wall Motors is China's largest privately-owned vehicle maker.

It already exports to about 60 countries in Asia, Europe and South America, and is planning to open production facilities in Russia as well as China.

The first model offered here will be a 2.3-litre double-cab utility which, with a price tag of under $20,000, will undercut rival products by thousands of dollars.

The GWM double cab ute will be just the start, says Ateco Automotive Pty Ltd managing director Ric Hull.

The ute will be followed soon after by a single-cab ute, a compact SUV and an entry-level light car.

Pricing will be comparable to similar Korean models but with a significantly higher specification.

Rather than using names for its various models, which in China include vehicles called the Safe, Sailor and Wingle, GWM is expected to adopt an alpha-numeric system for its Australia and New Zealand line-up.

GWM vehicles will be imported by Ateco Automotive, which already handles brands here, including Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Ferrari, and Citroen.

Announcing its intention to bring Great Wall Motors vehicles to New Zealand this year, Ateco also confirmed it is pressing on with previously revealed plans to introduce the Chinese Chery brand in 2009.

A network of five or six GWM dealers is planned for New Zealand.

I think as long as they don't bring in the Peri and Panda, things won't be that bad.

It seems you are right.
I have searched the web and it seems Fiat nz only imports the 500 and goes up the scale to the punto. They dont have the panda in they catalog.
So for now all is ok, but i dont think Fiat is pleased in any way....

Default Great Wall Motor Stands in Saudi Arabia

Embassy staff in Saudi Arabia visited GWM showroom.

Quote:
On 5th July, 2008, at the invitation of AL RASSAM TRADING GROUP, the club of Chinese Embassy in Saudi Arabia organized its members to visit the showroom of Great Wall Motor and other made-in-China cars in Riyadh. More than 50 people joined including Mr. Wang Honglin, Chinese Ambassador in Saudi Arabia, Mr. Muneef, Chairman of AL RASSAM TRADING GROUP, Mr. Saif, vice chairman of AL RASSAM TRADING GROUP, the members of the Embassy and the representatives of Chinese institutions in Saudi Arabia.

AL RASSAM TRADING GROUP made thoughtful preparations for this event. All the members of Chinese Embassy were attracted by the banners with “warmly welcome Chinese embassy guests” in both Chinese and Arabic. Mr. Saif said in the welcome address that the Great Wall Motor they represented enjoys the advantages on the high quality, the fair prices and the good after sales service as well, and has a strong competitiveness in the local market. AL RASSAM TRADING GROUP hopes to continue introducing more high quality Chinese products to Saudi Arabia with mutual effort and to realize a win-win situation.

Mr. Yang Honglin, the ambassador, extended their thanks to the invitation from AL RASSAM TRADING GROUP and appreciates its unique foresight and management method. He wishes Chinese products particularly GWM could enjoy a higher reputation in the Saudi Arabian market with mutual effort.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is rich in oil, and is also a paradise for cars. Various kinds of well-known brands gather together there. Chinese embassy members visited GWM hall in a high sprit. Glorious cars placed in the bright hall, such as the fashionable SUV, economic and practicable Pickup. All of them have a same feature i.e. made in China. Car fevers checked the technical data carefully, and compared with the Japanese and Korean cars. New comers of Embassy who do not have a car are busy testing driving and surprised to find one more choice. The GW Hover attracted much attention thanks to its fashionable appearance, delicate inner decoration as well as competitive price. AL RASSAM TRADING GROUP introduced that this model is very popular in the local market and made a good beginning for the Chinese cars marching into Middle East.

As the sole distributor of Great Wall Motor, AL RASSAM TRADING GROUP has been dedicated to develop the market and achieved much. Especially in 2008 year, a total of 786 units were sold out as at 30 June, representing an increase of 17.3% when compared with that of the previous year.

"Great Wall of China stand in Saudi Arabia" is the comment of the embassy staff, and also their heartfelt blessing. They hope more and more Chinese cars, like Great Wall Motor, enter into Middle East and set up a new image for the Chinese brand.
