From Global Auto Sourcing:

Quote:
Chinese automaker Jiangling Motor Group shipped the last batch of 300 pickups to Russia over the weekend, which marks the automaker has fulfilled the 2,349 vehicles export contract with Russia.

In May this year, Jiangling Motor signed a $20 million vehicle export contract with a Russia company. Under the contract, Jiangling will export 2,349 Jiangling pickups and Landwind SUVs to Russian market this year.

By November 3, Jiangling has delivered all vehicles to Russia as required by the contract.

“Russia has become the largest overseas market for Chinese-made vehicles since the first half of 2006,” said Zhang Xiaoyu, vice president of China Machinery Industry Federation.

In the first eight months this year, Chinese automakers have sold 560,000 vehicles in Russian market and it is expected that the sales of Chinese-made vehicles in Russia will reach 100,000 this year, representing 5 percent of Russia’s total vehicles imports.

Last year China exported 200,000 vehicles to Russia. However, back in 2004, there was no Chinese-made sold in Russia market.

Jiangling Motors reports 20% net increase.

Quote:
March 18, 2008 - Jiangling Motors has announced that its revenues and net profit both rose during 2007. The automaker’s net profit rose 20% to 759.2 million yuan from 628.9 million.

The automaker, which primarily specializes in light commercial vehicles (LCVs) and sport utility vehicles (SUVs), reported an increase in sales of 10.5% year-on-year (y/y) from 7.655 billion yuan (US$1.079 billion) to 8.456 billion yuan.

During the report period, the automaker sold a total of 95,059 vehicles, including 38,752 JMC light trucks, 23,982 pickup trucks, 4,819 Baowei SUVs and 26,585 Ford Transit commercial vehicles.

The company’s auto sales rose 12 percent compared to a year earlier. The company’s sales of Ford Transit vehicles rose 16 percent, light trucks up 18 percent and Bowei up 36 percent compared to one year earlier.

The company is 30% owned by Ford. This gives it access to the Transit LCV model, one of the most popular vehicles of this type in the country. Although the company’s sales and profits rose as a result of new model launches last year and the growth of the market, its market share fell by 0.1 percentage point to 1.1%, which shows how competitive the Chinese market currently is, and this is one of the reasons why it is looking to sell vehicles overseas, according to analysis made by Global Insight.

Jiangling Landwind (Lufeng) products will be sold in Middle East under Changan logo.

July 31, 2008 - The first batch of 30 Lufeng Fenghua vehicles will be exported to the Middle East with the Changan logo, Beijing News reported today, citing an executive of Changan Auto.

Lufeng brand vehicles will be transferred to Changan Auto’s international business and will be exported under the Changan logo in the future. The Fenghua vehicles will be renamed “Gala” as their exports start from the Middle East, and then expand to all other foreign markets except Europe, America, Japan, Korea and India.

As the Lufeng model hasn’t ever passed the crash test in Europe, analysts pointed out that Lufeng exports using the Changan logo apparently aim to get rid of the negative influence brought by its past crash results, but it is unknown whether Lufeng products will be able to pass the market test.

More echoes.....

It looks like Chang'an has taken control of Landwind from Jiangling Motor Corp. as this 4 year old domestic joint venture moves forward.

Jiangling Motors to begin N800 Project

December 16, 2008
Jiangling Motors Co., Ltd., a Chinese partner of Ford Motor Company in China, wins the go-ahead from its board of directors to kick off N800 Project, which is a plant of a new light commercial vehicle.

Involving total investment of 725 million yuan, the project is estimated to be able to produce 80,000 N800 cars per year, after a three-year construction. Most of the investment will be spent in workholdings and equipment purchase, engineering development, and parts and component development.

Notably, N80 is a car that will be independently developed by the Chinese carmaker. The company's board approved a proposal this April to put aside 118 million yuan as starting fund and initial research and development cost, and agreed the company to spend no more than 160 million yuan buying a plot of land about 133.3 hectares large in Xiaolan Economic Development Zone in Nanchang, headquarters of Jiangling Motors.

Jiangling Motors to start JX4D30 engine project

December 31, 2008

Shanghai, December 31 (Gasgoo.com) Jiangling Motors has decided to kick off the JX4D30 engine project, which aims to upgrade its current 4JB1 engine to meet future emission standards, reported Shihua Financial Information today. The company will spend 11 million yuan for initial research and development.

The JX4D30 engine manufacturing base, now under the second-phase construction, will have an annual capacity of 100,000 units annually after operation starts in late 2011. JMC expects the JX4D30 engine will meet the ever strict emission standards in the future and better match new models.

JMC produced 5,963 vehicles and sold 6233 in November 2008, down 29.89% and 14.79% year on year respectively. For the first eleven months of this year, the automaker posted output and sales of 88,795 units and 88,649 units, up 4.03% and 5.11% year on year respectively.

The automaker has seen sales growth slow down since the third quarter, due to impacts caused by the economic downturn on commercial vehicles market.
