The idea of the car reminds me DS5, which I like very much. But this is one huuuge step forward.

Early launch made possible by utilizing one of Dongfeng-Kia's factories. It is a large, powerful "luxury" vehicle, quite expensive, and loaded with tech and enough gimmicks to astound 10-12 year-olds. Also see post #4.
Agreed, they are the ones in the know, almost instinctively nowadays.

Speaking of added features, when it comes to the ADAS kind:

One question: is there an airbag for front passenger?

Perhaps your question is rhetorical but the answer is yes, if you go by this:

In terms of configuration, the new car is equipped with main and passenger seat airbags, front side airbags, head air curtains...
Here is the full PR piece; notice the word "safety" is mentioned just twice:

On a lighter note, probably HH thinks that its car is so intelligent (562 sensors, no less!) that it would never get into an accident (unless hit from above by a falling tree, billboard, highrise, or drone) and that airbags are of secondary importance. After all, what is life if every occupant inside a car cannot watch the latest uploaded video on Youku at full resolution?

However, this is worrisome, almost Orwellian:
Quote:
sensors are deployed throughout the vehicle, all of which collect, analyze and respond to massive amounts of data on its occupants

Well, HH does view the car as extension of your living room.

In fact, I find HH one of the more interesting startups, because of their grand visions of the future. Of course, if you're a car enthusiast and consider driving a two-seat roadster on a twisty road the essential part of mobility, then this company is probably not for you. I do appreciate that part of driving, but at the same time I'm aware it is only a small part of mobility. Most of the time your car is moving slowly in a traffic jam in a crowded city.

If you go by their website or some of the things the leading people said in interviews, then HH is not thinking just about the car, but also about its relations to the surroundings and the people that are using it. As said, they have some grand visions (their website is full of flying cars), but they seem to be putting the money where their mouth is, participating in designing smart roads and cities. So far they have my attention, but I do understand it if you think it's all a bit over the top.

The all too common practice of using (non-integrated) display screens, makes them look almost like aftermarket add-ons, postage stamp style.

Leo, two years ago, CEO Ding Lei was quoted by China Daily as saying, the company is focusing on five sectors, that is to build smart cities which feature intelligent vehicles, shared vehicles, charging networks, internet of vehicles technology and automated driving....adding that they had begun building an information network for intelligent vehicles.
