Default FAW Xiali news

"Xiali" brand officially laid to rest.

http://news.cnev.cn/Info_107320.html

Production of the N3 ended in December 2015, N7 in April 2017, and N5 in May 2017. Sales of the Xiali brand (N5 only) continued up to December 2017. The mainstay of Tianjin FAW now seems to be only the Junpai cars as Weizhi too has been struggling. The Weizhi V5 has been manufactured up to June 2017, with sales reported till December 2017. The Weizhi V2 is made only for export.

Default FAW Xiali news

Pursuant to the formation of Tianjin Bordrin Automobile Co., Ltd., the 80:20 JV between Nanjing Bordrin New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd. and Tianjin FAW Xiali Automobile Co., Ltd., FAW Xiali has stopped Jumpal (Junpai) production to retool the plant for Bordrin cars. The last Jumpal cars were made in June (D80 and D80 EV) and reportedly FAW Xiali will retire the Jumpal (Junpai) brand.

If this is true, then Jumpal's three latest models will end up having very short life cycles, having existed for only a year or so. There is also the question whether KD export of Weizhi vehicles, V2 and V5, will permanently cease (or may have already ceased?).

Tianjin FAW Xiali will leave the FAW group, be transferred without compensation to China Railway Materials Co., Ltd. as a mere shell company and cease to exist as a carmaker (further details in the articles). It will still remain a bourse-listed company. FAW Xiali's existing assets and liabilities will be transferred to a designated subsidiary of the FAW group. The automobile production license will be transferred to (or converted to a new license for) the new JV Tianjin Bordrin, 80% of which is held by Nanjing Bordrin New Energy Auto.
