Yes absolutely. The Ziyoujian evolved from the Merrie (300 and earlier) and Uliou sedans that were obviously related to the Merrie hatches, which themselves evolved from the first Haoqing(s) which borrowed the platform as well much of the exterior design from the Xiali hatch (G100 Charade). Xiali sedan influences can be clearly seen in the design of the Uliou/Merrie sedans though they were not clones.

The problem is that this platform was labeled unsafe early on, as seen here.
http://www.howsafeisyourcar.com.au/1...hatsu/Charade/ I don't think it was ever modified by Tianjin Xiali, FAW Xiali, or Geely, to counter the atrocious record it has in crash tests, down through the years. And that's why I had hoped Geely in particular, would have swept it out of their product line-up. |
