All-new electric car approved under the license of truckmaker Chengdu Dayun Automobile, revealed in MIIT Notice #316. Model name is unknown. Although the car sports the "DAYUN" badge front and rear for type-approval purposes, there is a possibility it could be someone else's (a new EV startup?) product, a company that does not have its own license.
Essentially the car is small at less than 3.7 m, on a wheelbase of 2.4 m. It is a 4-seater, powered by dual motors of 62 kW and 6 kW (a configuration similar to Hongxing's X2).
MIIT has registered its name as "Shuaihu ES3" (帅虎 ES3). The car is equipped with a 34 kWh battery that enables it to run for 255 km. Max. speed is 120 km/h. Torque produced by the dual motors is 220 Nm and 60 Nm. It is still not clear whether this will be a Dayun or an OEM vehicle.
It is rumored that Dayun Auto has begun trial production of two vehicles, an MPV and an SUV codenamed M171 and S171 respectively, at its New Energy Auto Production Base in the Airport Economic Development Zone in Yanhu Dt., Yuncheng City, Shanxi Province. I have no further info on these cars.
The inscription on the tailgate says "帅虎 ES3", so either this example is from an early lot (after all, production began almost a year ago) or Dayun has decided to stick with the first name.
After meeting with very little success in the marketplace after three months of launch and more than one year of production, the Chihu EM6 and Yuehu* ES3 will be relaunched under new names, Yuanzhi M1 (远志M1) and Yuanlue S1 (远略S1) respectively. https://www.autohome.com.cn/news/202009/1031017.html
P.S. Stats reveal slightly less than 1,000 units (both models combined) have been produced May 2019 through July 2020 with around 600-odd units delivered from the factory. Retail offtake till July has amounted to 319 units, of the small hatchback ("SUV") only.
