Sinotruck receives orders of 140,000 trucks for 2008
Quote:
January 24, 2008 – China’s largest heavy truck maker, China Heavy Truck Corporation or Sinotruck has received purchase orders of 140,000 heavy trucks for 2008, the company announced on its web today.

The truckmaker’s export orders for 2008 have doubled its export orders of last year, Sinotruck announced on its 2008 business conference.

Company official attributed the huge increase of sales order to the launch of 2008 heavy models, which are at once fuel efficient and complies with EU-III tailpipe emission standards. Currently, the truckmaker has converted all of its 2,700 models to the new 2008 production platforms.

Sinotruck plans to sell 125,000 heavy trucks this year. With these sales orders, the truck would not have any trouble achieving its sales target for the year. Last year, Sinotruck sold 100,619 heavy trucks, up 65.99 percent from one year earlier.

The truckmaker expects a 40 percent year-on-year sales increase in January this year.
Sinotruck signs contract to export 2,000 trucks to Ethiopia.
Quote:
January 24, 2008 – China’s largest heavy truck maker, China National Heavy-duty Truck Corporation or Sinotruck signed a $130 million heavy truck export contract with North African country Ethiopia earlier this month.

Under the contract, Sinotruck will export 2,000 HOWO heavy-duty trucks to Ethiopia. The exports include 1,000 ten-tonnage automatic loading trucks and 1,000 forty-ton container truck trailers. The first 200 trucks will leave Chinese sea port in mid-February and arrive at Ethiopian port in March.

Sinotruck has established a complete after-sale service program in Ethiopia, which includes technician training, auto parts supply and maintenance services.

The Shandong-based truck-maker is China’s largest heavy truck maker, which holds 20.8 percent of China's heavy truck market year to date. In 2007 the truck maker has exported over 13,000 heavy trucks, leading China’s heavy truck exports for three consecutive years. By mid-December 2007, Sinotruck has produced and sold 100,000 heavy trucks in Chinese market.

On December 7 of 2007 Sinotruck reached a cooperation agreement with Russian largest heavy truck maker Likhachev-AMO ZIL. The two companies will form a 50-50 joint venture, HOWO-ZLL, which will assemble and sell Sinotruck-made HOWO heavy trucks. The joint venture is expected to be able to assemble 250,000 heavy trucks annually by 2012.

Slovenia? The only nation on earth based on 'love'.

East Europa would be a great market for sturdy built chinese trucks, there is a long and honored history of economic cooperation between china & the former communist satellite countries.
How is the economy out there in slovenia? Are you guys recovering from the prior unrest and bolstered by the enormous growth in EC nations?
i actually speak a bit of slovenian (former girl<near wife>was slovenian, hard working people, very intellegent & innovative!!! Similar to the chinese in many respects) and would love to visit there.

Sinotruck makes and sells 30,000 heavy trucks in Q1.

Quote:
March 31, 2008 - China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Co., Ltd. (Sinotruck) said recently that Sinotruck manufactured and sold 17,900 heavy-duty trucks in the first two months of this year, an increase of 42.28% over 2007, holding 22.45% of the domestic market to lead China’s heavy truck manufacturing. The making and selling of the vehicle maker's heavy trucks in March is expected to hit 15,000 units, which will create a new high in the country's monthly heavy truck sales volume.

Since the restructuring of the group in 2001, Sinotruck, China's third-largest heavy-truck manufacturer, has invested heavily in technical innovation and global expansion. Over the past seven years, Sinotruck has kept a momentum of rapid growth, and its marketing volume has exponentially increased by 26 times to make the company a leader in China's heavy truck sector. In terms of the sales volume, Sinotruck became the world's fifth largest heavy truck maker in 2007. With its exponential growth, Sinotruck has also created huge profits -- in 2007, Sinotruck attained a sales figure of RMB 37.1 billion ($5.2 billion), paying RMB 2.8 billion in taxes.

In 2008, Sinotruck expects to manufacture and sell 125,000-135,000 heavy trucks, 20,000-25,000 of which will be export-oriented. If this goal is reached this year, Sinotruck will achieve its current five-year plan two years ahead of schedule.

Chinese truck maker Sinotruck enters Kenyan market.

Quote:
April 1, 2008 - The launch of a new brand from China is set to drive competition a notch higher in the heavy trucks market in Kenya. Made by Chinese auto maker Sinotruck, the vehicle offers Kenyan transporters a competitively priced truck expected to curve its niche in the fast growing commercial segment of the automobiles market in the African country.

It will be sold by the Africa China Motor Group (ACMG), a company incorporated in Kenya by the brand owners. Mr Imran Khan, the managing director of ACGM, said the company hopes to sell 500 units this year. He described the launch of the truck as the first step in a journey that will see more of the company’s products in the regional market.

The vehicles will be retailing at between Sh4.5 million (US$71,400) and Sh4.8 million. There are about 200 Sinotruks on Kenyan roads, most of them directly imported from China. Nairobi will serve as the company’s regional office for East and Central Africa as well as Southern Sudan. Mr Khan said ACGM was looking for partners in region to increase its sale points.

ACGM, which won the exclusive rights to sell Sinotruck brands last year, has invested more than Sh300 million in the venture. Mr Khan said the company will invest another Sh189 million in a new show room on Mombasa Road.

The arrival of a new Chinese truck in the Kenyan market is expected to increase competition in a segment of the motor industry where sales have been increasing steadily over the past three years.

Sinotruck's heavy duty truck hit monthly sales high

(Xinhua)
Updated: 2008-04-05 14:36

China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Corp (Sinotruck), one of the county's largest truck producer, sold a monthly record of 15,000 heavy duty trucks in March.

Sales of heavy duty trucks in the first quarter hit 32,500 units, an increase of 41 percent over the same period of last year, according to the company.

Sales revenue totaled 10 billion yuan ($1.43 billion) in the first quarter, up more than 40 percent year on year.

The company attributed its good sales performance to the efforts on technology improvement and a robust demand from both domestic and overseas markets. Sinotruck has devoted more than 500 million yuan in technology upgrading.

It also admitted that the the company was under the pressures of soaring steel price, and environment protection measures implemented in some overseas markets in Russia, West Asia and Middle East.

Sinotruck said earlier that it aimed to produce 125,000 units of heavy duty truck this year, up from last year's 100,000.

The Jinan-headquartered company is among world's top five heavy truck producers, which exported more than 13,000 units of heavy duty trucks and earned about $400 million in 2007.

Sinotruck establishes its name by manufacturing China's first heavy duty truck named "Huanghe", introducing the "Steyr" series production technology and teaming up with Volvo Automobile Company in producing advanced heavy duty trucks.

Sinotruk profit up
2008-4-21

SINOTRUK (Hong Kong) Ltd, China's biggest heavy-truck maker, boosted profit 74 percent last year as a construction boom spurred demand in the world's fastest growing major economy.

Net income rose to 1.11 billion yuan (US$157 million), or 0.71 yuan a share, from 638 million yuan, or 0.43 yuan, a year earlier, the Hong Kong-based firm said in a stock exchange statement yesterday. Sales rose 67 percent to 21.3 billion yuan. Sales of trucks with a capacity of more than 20 tons rose 47 percent in China last year, more than twice the pace of the country's overall vehicle market.

Its very impressive growth by Sinotruck.

I am curious as to the operating structure - Eddie Stobart the big UK trucker as telematics [spies] in all its trucks - I imagine that China is a more practical level of fleet operation. Is the market highly fragmented- where else would have the information : )?
