The "Mitsubishi engine" is the Z300 standard 4A91T engine from Shenyang Aerospace Mitsubishi (Shenyang Hangtian Sanling).

Some initial lots of S300 have been imported by SAIPA and are being delivered to the market. Test production has been carried out but Phase III (commercial production) will likely begin around August. The name for the local version has been recently chosen as "Ario" (final Roman spelling may be different) in a public contest, along with "Saena/Saina", the name for the upcoming Tiba facelift (SAIPA 232, which is not Chinese).
Production will take place at the former PIDF/Bonro plant in Saveh which is now part of the SAIPA group; it used to make Fiat and Ssangyong vehicles till a few years ago, and is now producing the Pride-based "X100" range of sedans and hatchbacks (one of many plants doing so) and the 151 pickup. It is a pity that IVMA (the automakers' association) stopped publishing monthly production stats after January, else I could have shared further relevant information. As stated in a recent news release, SAIPA has set itself a sales target of 8000 of the S300 "Ario" for the Iranian year 1393 (to end March 20, 2015). In addition to 4500 that will be produced by CKD method, 3500 CBU (completely built-up) cars will be imported.

Pure electric version of the Z300 XinShijie with different grille and a new "Domy" (anglicized Damai) brand name and logo.
Powered by a lithium-ion battery, it will be capable of 100 km/h with an expected range of 200 km.
