The 2020 Hyundai ix25 has made a surprise debut at Auto Shanghai 2019.
Hyundai says that the second generation ix25 is inspired by the same design language as the seventh generation Sonata - Sensuous Sportiness. However, the front-end has a striking resemblance to the first-ever Palisade mid-size SUV.

The front-end is where the new design language’s curvaceous and more emotive elements are seen the most, and they don’t seem to blend well with the aggression planted by the futuristic light design and the large skid plate. The bold and wide cascading grille, aimed at making the SUV look dominant, is quite weird, and the slab of chrome on the top only makes things worse. It is flanked by vertically stacked two-tier LED headlamps.

The profile is the only angle from where the Hyundai ix25 is still recognisable. While the squarish wheel arches are an okay-change, the DLO probably would have been better off without a curve on the quarter glass. At the rear, too, there’s an offbeat light design, with vertically stacked tail lamps seemingly connected via a garnish strip featuring a brake light in the middle. The design of the tail lamps and the tailgate seems to have been influenced by that of bigger SUVs like the aforementioned Palisade and the China-only Santa Fe LWB.

The interior of the next-gen Hyundai ix25 is also entirely new. The minimalist approach of the designers in carving out the cabin can be easily made out from the more compact steering wheel, the luxury SUV-like exceptionally large floating portrait display of the infotainment system and the floor console merged into a single panel, the horizontal central air vents and the uncluttered dashboard.
Beijing-Hyundai will launch the all-new Hyundai ix25 in the second half of this year.

Beijing-Hyundai launched the highly anticipated 2020 Hyundai ix25 (2020 Hyundai Creta) in China yesterday. The all-new Hyundai ix25 has been priced between CNY 1,05,800 (INR 10,62,288.68) and CNY 1,36,800 (INR 13,73,545.29).

The second-gen Hyundai ix25 features a Hyundai Palisade-inspired exterior design which looks very striking and bold. The new aggressive design has been implemented in order to attract a larger set of younger buyers. It now features a more prominent radiator grille which is flanked by vertically stacked modern-looking split LED headlamps. While the rear features a completely offbeat light design comprising vertically placed, split tail lamps. The exteriors may be too bold and aggressive, but from the inside, the cabin is equally posh, upmarket and elegant. In details, it now features a freshly designed compact steering wheel, sleek horizontal central air vents and a 10.4-inch portrait-style touchscreen infotainment system. The new layout syncs the infotainment system and the climate control system under a single panel. Furthermore, it comes with a 12.3-inch LCD instrument panel which gives it a modern touch. This is the same panel which is seen in 2020 Hyundai Verna.

The 2020 Hyundai ix25 comes loaded with features like panoramic sunroof, electric parking brake with auto-hold function, a 360-degree camera system and much more. Also, it gets four driving modes, namely Smart, Sport, Eco, Comfort. These modes have been added to make the new ix25 more versatile in terms of drivability which is further complemented by its triple terrain modes namely Snow, Mud and Sand.

The 2020 Hyundai ix25 comes brimming with modern safety features such as Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM), Driver Attention Warning (DAW), Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Adaptive Smart Cruise Control (ASCC) and High Beam Assist (HBA). All these features make it one of the most well-equipped offerings in terms of safety and security features. It measures 4,300 mm in length, 1,790 mm in width and 1,620 mm in height. When compared to the outgoing model, it is 10 mm longer, 10 mm wider and anywhere from 2-26 mm lower. Its wheelbase is 20 mm longer and stands at 2,610 mm.

As for the mechanicals, the Hyundai ix25 now uses a 1.5-litre petrol engine which replaces the 1.6-litre petrol engines. The all-new petrol engine delivers 84.4 kW (114.75 PS) of maximum power at 6,300 rpm and 143.8 Nm of peak torque at 4,500 rpm. The engine is available with the same 6-speed manual transmission, while the CVT gearbox is new. It is rated to return up to 5.3 L/100 km (18.86 km/L) of fuel economy, depending on the selected configuration.
